Back To Basics- Ballet Flats!

I hate seeing an item all over the store shelves for a long time, and then when you need it it’s nowhere to be found! This is the exact problem I have ran into recently with ballet flats. Ballet flats are one of the most common type of shoe these days, and everyone at least owns one pair. They are such a basic staple item that you can find everywhere from Walmart to Saks 5th Avenue. I had been looking to invest in some new comfortable, every day flats, and none were to be found. Who would have thought the quest for simple flats would turn into such a difficult shopping excursion?! I resorted to trusty internet shopping, and found a handful of possible options. They weren’t all cheap, but I am willing to hand over a pretty penny for a good pair of shoes that I know I’ll get lots of wear out of. I thought I would share my finding with you guys, because at some point or another you will probably be in hunt of this same basic item! Here are my faves:

Tory Burch flats are some of the most sought after and loved shoes out there. You see them all over celebrities, and they come in almost every color of the rainbow. They don’t actually sell these where I live, but on a recent trip to Atlanta I tried a pair on at Nordstrom. To be exact it was the Tory Burch patent Caroline Ballet Flat in Black. These were SO comfortable! Style and comfort is everyone’s goal, and these definitely hit the mark!

I have some flats from Banana Republic that my mom and I share (the perks of having a mom with the same sized foot!). Those shoes make your feet feel like you’re walking on clouds! Well…maybe not that good, but they are pretty darn amazing! There is so much cushion in just the right places. The particular pair I have are from last year, but these Banana Republic Scotty ballet flats in nature/geranium/truffle would be a fantastic alternative for the current season. Cap toes are a HUGE trend right now, and these add such a fun pop of color!

J.Crew always has the most adorable dainty shoes. Well, they have the most adorable everything for that matter. Anyway, these shoes are always a little out of my price range, but with my recent need for a new pair they have pushed their way to the top. I am really loving bright and bold colors for Spring so these Cece leather ballet flats in gallery green are amazing! The color would look great with almost any bottoms, and they are also super comfortable of course!

Born has some of the best feeling flats ever! They used to not have such cute designs, but I have noticed a huge change in their style lately. These Jazzy Flats in Taupe are perfect for your daytime duties. They feel like some old granny shoes that you could wear for hours, but these are MUCH more on the stylish side. I think this nice warm light brown color is great too. It’s so universal and can match everything in your closet!

I have been a TOMS shoes lover for several years now. For those of you that don’t know.. this is a company that will directly give a pair of shoes to a child in need when you make a purchase. I believe I have four pairs of the original TOMS, and I wear them constantly. This season they have come out with an awesome new line of regular ballet flats. These are the Alessandra Burlap Ballet Flats! I honestly can’t wait to get these shoes! It feels so incredible to have a comfy pair of shoes on your feet when you know you’ve helped someone much less fortunate than you.

Do you ever run into the annoying problem of not being able to find something you need that you normally see all the time? What do you do when that happens? And, what are some of your most comfortable/favorite ballet flats?!

Try being a size 11 (Aus) who is well over 5″9.

I find a good pair of flats and then wear them to death every time without thinking about buying a second pair.

Note to self, buy a second pair if possible so you have a back up for when the first pairs dies and you can stop resorting to converses as substitute.

  2. Love these perfect for Spring and summer ;-)
