The Metallico Collection for Fall 2011
“CARGO Cosmetics presents a beauty tale of empowerment and individuality.
CARGO’s Metallico assortment for Fall 2011 is all about Heavy Metal. This edgy, urban collection speaks to personal expression and self-empowerment. Metallico is about rebellion from conformity and an embracing of individuality. Like a woman, metal can take on many shapes and appearances but is coveted for its strength and beauty. And also like a woman, metal conducts heat and can create an instant reaction under the right conditions.”
The Metallico Collection Kit ($59 US/CDN)
This collection is FIERCE! Having a soft heart for all things with even a hint of rock and roll, this is right up my alley. With this kit you get a full size black eyeliner (with major staying power,) a rad full size wet/dry eyeshadow of dark metallic gunmetal gray, a full size revamped lip gloss in Madrid, a full size of a new product called Glitter Top Coat (read below for description,) and cult favorite Lash Activator mascara (a safer and effective lash growth stimulator) in a mini size. It all comes nestled inside that fantastic chain clutch too! Loving this, a definite must-have for me.
NEW Long Wear Lip Gloss ($14 US/CDN)
In no particular order: Woodstock (psychedelic pink,) Nassau (shimmering ballet slipper pink,) Sahara (shimmering champagne nude,) Big Sur (warm neutral pink,) Fresno (baby pink,) Tuscany (shimmering rose),) Aruba (warm matte rose), Juneau (shimmering salmon,) Athens (ruby pink,) Belgium (chocolate,) Madrid (garnet,) Paris (classic burgundy,) Tokyo (bright red,) Rio (coral red)
CARGO has completely revamped their lipgloss, and I for one am very happy about that! These shades are described as long-wearing and high shine, and feature a velour-coated wand for easy application. The formula is free of parabens, talc, mineral oil, and synthetic dyes, and contains vitamin E. The smaller packaging is perfect and the colors are exactly what CARGO needed. I can’t wait to try these with that famed reverse lip liner.
Metallico Glitter Top Coat ($18 US/CDN)
Described as “the ultimate transformer,” CARGO’s Glitter Top Coat is a transparent base infused with colored iridescent glitter and can be worn alone or on top of any eyeliner or eyeshadow. It is also waterproof, smudgeproof, and long-wearing. What a great way to go from day to nighttime makeup! The iridescent glitter sounds interesting, it will be great to see this one up close.
The Metallico Eye Kit ($39 US/CDN)
This great little palette comes with a cool urban print wristlet and dual ended brush for application as shadow and/or liner. The eyeshadow palette itself features 8 shades of metallic shadows with large glitter pieces. CARGO is definitely staying on the neutral end of color with this palette, though they do include a nice subtle pop of icy blue. Their shadows always blend well and are wonderfully pigmented, and this kit is a pretty affordable deal. Probably going to have to pick this one up too!
The Metallico Waterproof Eye Pencil Kit ($24 US/CDN)
If you’re a fan of Urban Decay’s 24/7 Eye Pencils or already are in love with CARGO’s Swimmables Eye Pencils that were released just in time for summer, you may want to check these out! Their pencils are always HIGHLY pigmented, and they continue the glitter and metallic theme through here for a little more funk. Though it’s difficult to tell from the picture, the shades are Midnight Blue, Sea Glass Green, Indigo, and Turquoise, all with light-reflecting glitter. These contain Jojoba Oil for easy application and blending as well as conditioning. Knowing how impressive the Swimmables colors were, I bet these won’t be your typical glitter eyeliners. And again, definitely can’t beat that price.
Overall CARGO’s Metallico Collection for Fall is super impressive (at least at first glance!) This unexpected turn to the edgy side of things is an awesome step up, and I think it’s great that they took a chance on new formulations and glittery textures. Don’t you just love when brands kick it up a notch and keep us fans on our toes? A gorgeous little CARGO birdie told me these are set to release at Ulta August 1st and Macy’s August 15, so keep it in mind to get on down to your local CARGO artist and get glam for Fall! You know I’m already on it.
