Favorite Fashion Trends of 2012!

Fashion is a constantly changing aspect of our world. Fashion designers deal with a fine line between introducing new and innovative creations and overstepping what the everyday wearer wants to see. There are oodles of money to be made in the fashion industry, but that only holds true when you go about it the right way and produce items that the world would actually wear. Fashion Star is a TV show that will be debuting on Tuesday, March 13th 9:30/8:30c. It has an incredible idea behind it, and as viewers we will get to see firsthand what works and what flops in the fashion world around us! Elle Macpherson, a total fashion icon, is the host of the show, and she is joined by Jessica Simpson, Nicole Ritchie, and John Varvatos as celebrity mentors. Until tomorrow when we get a look at what the aspiring designers are bringing to the runway, here are some of my personal favorite trends that have already popped up for the year of 2012!

Tribal prints-

This trend has been in action for a while, but it has come back in full force for spring and summer! It is probably my favorite trend for the year. The geometric shapes and crazy colors make it such a fun look that I love to wear. This laid back look was all over the runway for spring! Diane Von Furstenberg and Donna Karan showcased some perfect takes on the ethnic vibe. The print can be found in almost any shape or form: dresses, sweatshirts, tops, pants, you name it! You can lay low with a hint of the print on a tank or you can do it big with leggings wrapped in the look  from top to bottom. The choice is yours!

 

Neon-

Neon is back in action for all you 80s babies! I can’t get enough of this bright and bold trend right now. You can go for a full out neon outfit or you can add popping pieces against a more subtle look. Kim Kardashian is sporting neon attire in the picture below, and I really really like her take on it! I wear very vivid hot pink flats with skinny jeans and a basic top for some added shock factor! Not only does wearing this trend instantly brighten your mood, but it looks AMAZING with a tan. Neon bikinis will be an absolute must for the summer, that’s for sure!

 

Feminine Frocks-

Girly fashions will truly never go out of style, but I have been an extra big fan of what the designers have been throwing our way for this season! Jason Wu is hands down one of my top inspirations for this year, and his feminine meets masculine looks on the Spring 2012 runway were beyond drool-worthy. Ladylike dresses are such a carefree item to wear, and you can instantly pull an outfit together with a cutesie floral sundress, like the one Taylor Swift is wearing below, or a little lacy number. In my opinion, this is one of the easiest trends to wear straight off the runway. It hardly ever consists of anything too funky to wear to brunch in your hometown, and embracing your womanhood is a total confidence booster!

 

Metallic-

Shiny things have always caught my eye, and that is no different when it comes to this year’s trends! Metallic finishes are so gorgeous and they take any outfit to a whole new level! Metallic shoes are a definite current favorite of mine, and I’m slowly starting to venture out into the sheeny world. Bronzed tops are a piece that I have been hunting down for a while now. Slip one on and you turn into this beautiful beaming girl! This trend is very versatile and there are so many choices out there to fit your own personal style.
