For the longest time, I would always curse the person who made high heels. Who would make such a torturous device for women to walk in? Then I wondered, what was so appealing about heels? Why do most women feel more confident and sexy in heels, and why is it such a sex appeal for men? I did a little research to help answer these questions.
People have been wearing heels since practically the beginning of time. Back then, women were not the only ones wearing high heels. High class men and women wore heels. It was because of Western’s culture opinion of beauty that high heels became so popular and exclusively for women. High heels make women seem taller with more slender legs. They also forces a women’s butt and bosom to stick out more so her curves are more exaggerated. Who doesn’t like exaggerated curves, but why do they have to hurt so much?
The pain of being in heels for a long period of time has a bit to do with physics. In stilettos, a women’s weight is distributed to the pad of the foot and the tiny heel point of your sole. Therefore, the pressure that is exerted while walking in heels is extremely high compared to walking barefooted. Because the pressure is so great, when the energy used to walk in heels comes back, it takes a toll on your feet, calves, and even your hips. When you walk barefooted, you weight is distributed evenly to the ground, and when the energy comes back, it is light enough for your body to take it for a long periods of time. Wedges and platforms does a better job of distributing weight than stilettoes, however, I am sure phantom heels are the worst since they do not even have a heel!
Be careful of the heels that you wear daily. Be sure to give your feet a break from of heels, and do not wear heels if you feel like you cannot properly walk in them. The shoes may be cute, but they are not worth a twisted ankle! That is my spill on heels. Nothing against heels, but I’m a flats and a wedge kind of girl. What kind of shoe girl are you? Do you wear heels, if so, what are your favorite kind of heels?

I love heels! I’ve always said that I was born with the ability to wear them, they are crazy easy for me to balance and walk in and i’m always comfortable. I love any kind of heel that doesn’t have an open toe. open toed heels are IMPOSSIBLE for women to walk in comfortably. Otherwise I love them!!!
I wish i was born with such a gift! i didnt learn to walk in heels until I came to college, and even then I am still a big shakey. have you tried the phantom heels? those are the shoes with no backs. I’m meaning to get a pair to see how they differ from regular heels. one type of heel i hate is open toe with no backing, no support whatsoever, you can fall anytime. thats why i love flats because i cant fall off flats lol
Love heels! But I find them difficult to walk in
me too! i mostly wear flats, sometime wedges, platforms, or boots. way more comfortable. thanks for the comment!
I <3 peep-toe platforms and platform pumps… I find heels easy to walk in and get no pain. I dislike any high heels with a thick heel as they make me feel clunky and I find that they dont flatter my legs. I like my heels to be as high as i can walk in, I guess because even though I am 5'7 I have a long torso and like my legs to look proportionately long.
I love platforms! they are so comfortable to walk in. Wow, I wish i was that tall! I’m only 5’0, and I mostly wear flats which makes me seem even more child-like. lol thanks for the comment!
Great post, i’m in 2 minds about heels. Don’t get me wrong i do love to wear them now and again but i like to keep it more of a treat when i wear heels, it makes wearing them that bit more fun. Couldn’t wear them all the time like some women do.
Great post by the way
yea i totally understand! i only wear heels to networking events or partying. I see some girls wearing heels to class. That seems incredible to me lol thanks
