This woman sent an unaltered picture of herself to experts in different countries and asked them to Photoshp it and make her beautiful. I was amazed by the results and the way that beauty is seen differently around the world.

See the results here:

I found this fascinating

to be fair, she asked them what their beauty ideals were - and she got her money's worth. They were only paid $5.00 from her.

I don't believe for one minute that these images were actually done by those in the beauty world and by experts, but by people who just got their $5.00

Did you see the USA one? OMG - she looks like an alien child - just horrible!! The Germany one is just putting a glow filter on the image.

The video said that the average (American?) woman spends $15,000 on beauty products in their lifetime.

I wonder what the average would be for beauty addicts.

Yeah, the US one was bizarre. Whose ideal is that? Since it's what I'm most familiar with, and it doesn't look very convincing, it makes me doubt most of the other ones too. I don't think you can really get a sense of an entire nation's ideal by just asking a single random person, either.

None of her Photoshop "experts" put more than $5 worth of work into those images, tbh. I think the experiment would have been a little more impactful if the artists had been invested in the end results.

Some of the foreign countries looked OK, but the ones I expected to he the best, were the worst. OMGOSH!!!! I can't believe it!!!

(=O-O=) still can't believe it!!!

First I thought "thought cool idea" when I heard about it. But then I realized again that beauty is subjective and just completely different for everyone. Believe me, the German one is not what you typically see in Germany. Some find things and people beautiful where I do not share the same taste. And just to mention that not all of these were photoshop expert. Just because you are pretty good at changing filters on Instagram, does not make you an expert in every photo editing program. It would have been more interesting (in my oppinion) to ask a large group of people from different areas and backgrounds in each of these countries, which of the pictures they think is beautiful.

Cool concept, but definitely could've been executed better. Still interesting, albeit the results were...well, she got her $5 worth and no more, that's for sure.
