I feel like there is no relief with this oily skin. I've done researching upon researching and I just don't know what to do! Right now I'm looking for advice on how to keep my makeup on during my 8 to 10 hr work days. I work in a professional office and the females there look flawless all throughout the day while I look like I just went jogging after being there for 2 hours. What the heck am I doing wrong?

I need help with finding these for oily skin and acne prone skin:

Primer (I've been having a huge debate between MAC, Sephora collection and Smashbox but definitely open to other suggestions... lesser $$ suggestions)

Foundation

Brow powder

Any other tips you can think of!

Thank you!

Oh man, I feel you, I do. I have combo skin + I sweat a lot and I'm not going to lie, it can be really embarrassing when your makeup is running off your face while everyone else looks like they just stepped from a magazine!

I can't really help because, to be honest, I've never found a product that worked 100% that I could actually stand wearing for any length of time. For me, the solution is instead of trying to look matte and flawless, I've accepted the shine and I work with it, not against it.

That solution might not be for you, especially if you have skin concerns you want to cover up. But I hope it at least gives you the comfort of knowing that there are other women out there fighting that fight! :flowers:

The most important question is.....

Which cleanser are you using to wash your face in the morning?  Cetaphil for oily skin has literally...literally changed my life since I first started using it many years back.  It's gentle, but very strong.  My skin is super oily.  In fact everything about me including my scalp is oily.  The right cleanser makes a world of a difference underneath the proper makeup.  Revlon Colorstay foundation is the only one that I can rely on to stay on all day.

well, im sorry I cant help ya with makeup and oily skin :scared: , but I can recommend using Ganier's 3 in 1 everyday scrub, cleanser and mask. :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I use it every day, even though it says otherwise, and honestly it seriously works wonders for me. :sunshine:

good luck, and btw, your very pretty. so I wouldn't worry too much about looking flawless. ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Thanks everyone! Usually if I'm not working or going out then I don't really wear makeup just to let my skin breathe for a little while. I just wear makeup at work so I don't look washed out and to cover up some blemishes and my larger pores, basically to get an even look.

In the morning I actually don't use any cleaner on my face I just run some water over it, I've only been doing this for about a month and my skin has really softened and I don't break out as much. At night what I do is use a St. Ives face scrub to get the daily gunk off. Afterwards I use a moisturizer. I used to use Cetaphil but honestly it dried my skin out super badly :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Thank you everyone! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I have oily skin and the St. Ives scrub really doesn't work well for me - I've always thought it makes me oilier. I'm going to make a suggestion that will probably sound insane, because it did for me at first. Have you ever considered an oil cleanser? I use it at night to take my makeup off. It's super-thorough so I'm not breaking out from leftover makeup residue, it leaves my skin soft but not oily, and - best of all - it's never made me break out. In fact, I'm more likely to break out if I don't use it for a night. I think you can request a catalog from DHC and they'll include a sample foil of their oil. I love, love, love it and I really recommend it, even though it seems like the exact opposite of what someone with oily skin should use.

I use it for taking off makeup and dry skin. No way I never thought of that! But crazy ideas always seem to work for me. I used to never use moisturizer due to the insane amount of oil I had and my friend told me about how it helped with her face and now it's a daily regimen to use it! I'll definitely see if I can get a sample. Thank you!

Oh! I forgot to mention I use this soothing milk cleanser to sooth my skin after using any scrubs! I'm still using the sample, though it's pricey I love it so much I may wind up getting the full thing!

MAC cleanse off oil is a favorite of mine.  Super expensive, wish I knew of a drugstore dupe that was equally efficient.

But I used to only use that at night, it was amazing at removing everything.  I'm not sure it would actually do anything to prevent the oiliness during the day though.   I'm probably more oily than the OP though.  Cetaphil only for extremely oily ladies I guess/

I would strongly recommend Paula's Choice skin care to you.  I have combo/oily skin and I never found products that would work for me.  Finally I tried Paula's Choice and I have the best skin I have ever had.  There are a bunch of videos on Youtube etc.  I can't recommend them enough.

the 2% BPA liquid is amazing.  Completely shrank and unblocked my pores.  Also the Resist Ultralight Moisturizer SPF 30 is great - it is a moisturizer, primer and sunscreen in one and it dries to a matte finish.  I chucked all my previous skincare and basically did the Skin Balancing line and I have the best skin of my life.

I feel like  a broken record - Please do a skin test first with any product - including Paula's Choice.  Most people do fine on it, but others have an extreme reaction to it.  My skin texture was ruined after I used her liquid exfoliator and I had to gently cox it back with soothing aloe vera gels.

If you read bzz agent thread here,  you will see that several people there who are testing her products had extreme reactions to it.    I am not sure why it works so great for some and for others it is a nightmare...

I have oily skin too and I haven't found the perfect remedy, but I have found few things that work good. I used cleanser in the morning and evening. It is important that you keep your face clean and don't clog your pores. Don't overdue exfoliation or scrubbing, because that can increase sebum production. In the summer I try to use oil free moisturizers. I tried not to put too much stuff on my face ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />  Some primers work better than others to keep my make up on longer. During the day blotting paper is my best friend :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

And last before commit buying skincare get some samples first to try it out.

I'm loving all of the advice here! Thank you so much :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
I had to give up on blotting papers only because I blew through them so quickly :( /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> But they were just some cheap ones I picked up so maybe others are better!

Anything with salicylic acid is going to help you. It's suitable for all skin types and you'll be pleasantly surprised with the results. This ingredient is in Aveeno and Clean & Clear. You might also like Urban Decay's "De-Slick" setting spray. This is designed for oily skin! Blotting tissues are also helpful for quick fixes at work. Hope this helps! Xoxo

Hi, I'm new in this forum, please sorry if I do mistake but I'm an Italian girl and I want to learn english. However, for this problem I have buy an "oil control lotion" by MAC last year and for me it is a fantastic product!! Before make-up I spread on my skin the "oil control" MAC and the make-up dure for more hour intact :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I hear great things about Urban Decay's De-Slick!
I wanna try MAC but I keep seeing that Smashbox items are better for oily skin. Hmmmm...

Here's what I recommend to our customers:

1. Wash with african black soap - I recommend the one from amazon. Seller: HalalEveryDay

2. Toner - Witch hazel. It's cheap and effective and great for oily skin. Find it in the pharmacy.

3. Moisturize - A few drops of jojoba oil (it most closely resembles the skins natural sebum). Yes, even people with oily skin need to moisturize. What this does is tricks your skin into NOT producing more oil. If you dry out your skin by washing with harsh cleansers and don't moisturize, the skin responds by producing EXCESSIVE oil.

4. Makeup - powder type is best. One with oil absorbing minerals, like kaolin clay.

5. Finishing powder - one with oil absorbing ingredients like silica shells.

I'm definitely going to look into all of this! Thank you so so much! Yea right now I have a cheap Target moisturizer and I realized it was my biggest problem, it would clump up and flake off while I put the rest of my makeup on. Yuck! Now I'm on the hunt for another!

I'd really recommend the "Cleansing Clay Mask" by Dr. Hauschka for you. It's incredible how effectively it deals with oily skin and I think it might help
