So you have any really rad makeup tips?

Any cool products? (Maybe some indie ones that aren't that popular?)

Or maybe a common product that work SO much better with a cool tip?

Light it up! Let's hear a couple secrets! As a makeup artist I only hear things in the professional realm and I want to hear what the public has to say!

Here are a couple of mine to kick it off! ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Never, ever, ever, pull your lid while doing eyeliner or mascara again! Instead pop out the water line by putting your ring finger underneath your lower lash line and pressing lightly! The waterline flips right out to say hello. :p /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Put powder on first instead of using primer! It takes one expensive product out of the whole equation, plus you use less foundation, get fuller coverage, and better lasting power! Just be careful it isn't cakey! Too much powder=Too thick and matte to pass as skin!

Once a year, take a two-week skincation! You heard me! Lipbalm ONLY, and pack on your skincare. Cleanse, moisturize, and put that extra time you put into your makeup into your skincare! You'll have refreshed, decongested skin!

Now it's your turn! :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Mine is very specific, and probably not helpful at all, but I suffer from, not only combo skin, but hyperhidrosis as well, and sweat a lot from not only my pits, but my feet, hands and face. Okay, now that we're past the TMI part, here's the tip:

Don't try to fight the shine. You're never going to look natural. Work with it, instead.

I've given up on waterproof makeup, because the only "waterproof" products that actually work is stage makeup, and no one in their right mind would go out wearing stage makeup every day. Instead I chose very lightweight formulas, that are as close to my facial skin tone as possible, so that they look 100% like my skin, and as they wear during the day there is no glaring obvious difference between where foundation ends and skin begins.

To make blush, bronzer and highlighter stay put, I use either cream products alone, or layer powder over cream. For brows I choose waterproof products (they only ones that actually stay put, provided I don't actually wipe away a brow without meaning to). I also try to use only tinted brow gel on days I know I will be outside, sweating a lot.

Eyes and lips I can do like normal, but if I am going to be outside for a while, I have to be careful, because sweat can drip into my eyes. Having a flannel or something similar is a life, and makeup, saver.

Anyways, not very helpful tips for most people, but if you have difficulties keeping makeup in place,  I definitely would suggest trying to be less matte, than more.

Mine are all for lipstick, and I'm sure most people know already, but here goes.

If you can only buy one type of lipstick, creamy is the way to go, IMHO creamy is the most versatile.

1. Dot on cheeks for instant coordinating blush.

2. To create a matte finish: Apply, blot, cover lips with single ply of Kleenex, or toilt paper, dust lightly with translucent powder (baby powder will work in a pinch) apply, blot, and powder for a second time. Your lipstick will last longer and the light powder application will give a matte result.

3. For stain, dab color on with a clean finger, blot wll, continue dabbing and blotting until you have the depth of color you want.

4. For gloss, mix lipstick with Vaseline

5. For colored balm, gently and carefully melt clear chapstick type balm and add lipstick , mix well until completely blended. Use a small funnel and pour back into the chapstick tube, keep the tube standing upright until the stick has hardened.

6. When your tube of lipstick is used up, scrape out remaining bits and store in pillbox slot, or contact lens case. Use these remnants to mix new colors.

LOVE this. I can't count the number of times I've used this tip!

It's not powder first, then primer, it's powder instead of primer. So powder before foundation.

I've heard people talk about this before- it apparently works really well!

Yep, Too Faced's Primed & Poreless powder is designed for this very type of application - first as primer, then as setting or finishing powder. I've used it this way and it's nice for when it's hot out and you don't want to put on a heavy pore-filling primer. The powder really does work!

1. Don't try to rub off mascara that got onto skin, wait for it to dry then flake it off.

2. Cool/Neutral Brown eyebrow gel/wax/pomade placed where contour would go and then blended in vigorously makes great contour. I personally have done this with the E.L.F. dark brown eyebrow kit, and Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade in Chocolate. It takes a while to blend but the results look very natural (when blended in properly) and can be built up.

The powder before foundation trick is the absolutely best.

I use it all the time as a makeup artist, and it absorbs oil from your skin BEFORE it goes through the foundation and that way the foundation doesn't break down as quickly.
Primer only tries to stop oil production and it's not nearly as good at it.

3D fiber mascara sucks in my professional opinion. The fibers flake into peoples eyes, the curl never holds and they fall flat, or it looks like someone stuck spider legs because it's so unnatural. Regular mascara is just fine, and you can find ones that have just a few fibers instead of so many like the new "trend" of 3D fiber mascara.
