I went to edit my profile today and I noticed something new. There is now a section called product category preferences that allows you to let BB know how often you would like to receive certain products. You can choose keep them coming or max 4 per year. I was excited about this. I immediately chose to limit the shampoo and conditioner as well as nail polish. I think I may stick around a few more months to see if this gives me better boxes.

The only option I have is to only receive fragrance six times a year. I hope they are rolling out new options so I could get less hair products and lotions.

I don't have this option on either of my accounts, but noticed it on my mother's account this past week (she had me update her credit card while she's out of town.) I hope they do start rolling out a way to get more personalized boxes!

Hair - brushes & styling tools, conditioner, shampoo, shampoo&conditioner, styling products, tools and treatments
Makeup - cheeks, eyes, face, lips, tools
Nails - polish, tools
Skincare - anti-aging, blemish-prone, cleansers, exfoliators, eye care, face oil, makeup removers, masks, moisturizers, self-tanner, serums, skincare tools, sun protection, toners

I don't know how I would answer some of those. I would be happy to keep getting makeup, nails, and skincare. I like some of the body categories but not others (please no more highly-scented lotions and I'm allergic to a lot of deodorants so I prefer to stick with what I am used to there, but I'm into shower gels and sunscreen and scrubs/exfoliators). Hair I wouldn't mind either, except that the samples they usually send are so small I can't even get one use out of them. (Well, and I don't want dry shampoo or "cleansing" conditioner.)

I don't like that sun protection is in 2 categories, body and skincare. Untinted mineral sunblock would be great, but Birchbox seems to prefer to send chemical sunscreen, which makes me breakout. Ugh.
