Hey Ladies,

I took a summer hiatus from Subscription Boxes to use up some of my excessive amounts of makeup.  Now I'm ready to dip the toe back in and I truly can't decide which one to start with.  In the past I've had:

Birchbox

Ipsy

Starlooks

Lip Factory

I have to say, I enjoyed Lip Factory the most probably.

What is your "I can't live without this subscription box"  choice?!

Help me decide Ladies!

I love Ipsy - my last bag (October 2014) was perfect for me - the best yet!

Since most subs would give you the November box next, you might want to wait for the cyber Monday deals - last year there were some AMAZING deals!!!

I want to add another sub but will wait until then to take advantage of these great sales :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

My all-time favorite is Boxy Charm. This month wasn't my favorite box but the last few boxes before this have been incredible. You get a great mix of products and they include a lot of great brands like Tarte, Tarina Tarintino, Coastal Scents, etc. The value is also really awesome. It costs 21$ and you get like $100 worth of stuff plus they have a rewards program for when you review your products.

I love birchbox and love that it's still only $10 and you get $5 back in points every month so I thnk that makes birchbox a nice box for the price.

Petit vour is $15 and the products are organic sulfate/paraben free/vegan etc. I'm always happy with this box as well.

Personally I like less expensive boxes that give deluxe sample sizes so I can use them up. Getting full sized products is great but it takes time to use them and it's such a waste if you don't like it.

Which brings me back to birchbox as my fav - deluxe sample sizes that you can save points to buy full size if you like them, great customer service and higher end samples typically.

All of the subs I've ever gotten!!!!!

Birchbox:

I like the reward system here the best which is why I still have it.  It's $10 a month but I get $5-7 back in points which along with a 20-30% discount when I use my points to shop basically means I get almost all of my money back to use in the bb shop.  There are good and bad months for me with bb but in general I'd say it's been more good than bad and with the reward system.  This sub makes me the happiest.

Glossybox:

My favorite sub was glossybox but $21 is too high for me and the customer service is 99% crap.  I loved getting larger samples and a lot of the brands - at least when I used to get it in the beginning - were high quality items that I'd never heard of.  I found so many items that I loved and purchased but I don't think glossybox is as good as it used to be though the sample sizes are still the best for me.  Also while I love some of the brands that glossybox curates, I do not like a lot of the colors of makeup/nail products.  A lipstick from Ellis Fass?  Yes please!  In the color brown?  Ummm pass...  Even with some of the last season/no longer sold color choices were bad, I really quit because I just can't stand their customer service at a $21 pricetag.  They do have sales though which might make it worth it.

Ipsy:

I'm kind of done with Ipsy.  Almost cancelled a few times and then I bit the bullet and did it.  Or at least I thought I did until I got billed and found out that I had to confirm via email as well.  That was rather sneaky of them.  I am happy with this month but I still don't know if it's worth it.  I may wait until Jan to quit though since their Nov-Dec months tend to be good.

I did the math:

23 months (2 years! I missed 1 month during this time)

Out of 23 bags, I've only liked 2.  The rest I gave away or tossed in some cases (broken zipper, chemical smell, 1 was sticky...).  I know that the bag is their thing but honestly most of them feel cheap or look cheap.  I would rather get another product instead of a bag I'm going to give away or toss.  That's 21 bags I've gotten rid of!

7 months where I didn't like a single thing in my bag.

10 months where I only liked 1 item

3 months where I liked 2 items

1 month where I liked 3 items

2 months where I liked 4 items (my first month which hooked me and this current month which is making me want to keep it)

0 months where I liked all of the items in my bag

Out of 113 items I only liked 27, so I disliked 86!!  That's a 23.89% success rating for me!

So out of 23 months I had 17 really bad months.  I really should quit.

Popsugar:

I had this for a short while when they first started.  I got the very first box which was horrendous imo.  Had it from Sept until Dec.  There were charging $35 +tax back then and it just wasn't worth it to me except for 1 month.  The biggest thing I didn't like was their false advertising.  When they first started before sending out any bags (BUT they already charged me) Popsugar Must Have Box was Popsugar Must Have Bag.  They stated that each month we would get a 1 of a kind bag and the contents of the box would be worth $150.  As soon as people started getting their first box popsugar changed their advertisement online to a BOX and $100 value.  No warning.  No emails.  No nothing.  This pissed me off so much along with the contents of the first box that I emailed to quit right then and there.  I even screenshot the before and after ads for this sub.  Really still kinda pisses me off how dishonest it was.  Charge us, take our money, send out crap and THEN change the ad.  I don't get how they got away with this.  I only kept the sub because they refunded me for July when I emailed to quit and the next month was a vast improvement.

July - just bad

Aug - an improvement

Sept - The BEST box ever!

Oct - Decent box

Nov - No thanks

Dec - No thanks, only liked the candy

Target:

Does this count?  I got it twice - almost all foil packages of shampoo so I stopped getting it but this quarter's box looks nice.

Wow.. I went on a little rant there...  I only meant to type out 1-2 lines for each but ... XD

You gals rock for posting your input!  You're helping a lot with which to resub to.  I have never heard of French box.

I second Birchbox.  If I were to resub to something it would be that. I also love Rainbow Honey.  If you are into indies at all that is just delightful.

I like Birchbox the best, honestly, because in the end, it comes out to about $4 a month with an annual sub once you do all the reviews. I bought a Clarisonic with BB points not too long ago. The value there is great, and even if I only like or want 2-3 items, other folks often want the ones I don't, so I can swap.

I finally cancelled ipsy because it was to the point when it no longer excited me to open the bag every month. There's no surprise to it any more, and their rewards system is a joke. I'd rather have no rewards system than one that is useless and frustrating.

Glossybox had a mix of great boxes and yawners while I was subscribed, but in the end, it wasn't worth the $21 a month for me.

Allure SS was good for two months and then it started to become Generic Beauty Box, almost indistinguishable from others, so I didn't see much of a point to keeping it.

PopSugar may be hit or miss, but as a source of fun items, or gifts in the case of things that don't excite me, I went back to it despite the price. I don't really consider it a beauty box -- it's more of a variety lifestyle box.

I love birchbox, it's really tried and true for me. The points do rock. I just bought the BEST Zoya nail polish remover entirely with points and free shipping.

I also really like French Box so far too. I think the boxes have been nicely curated but they're still very new.

Nina Garcia's quarterly box is another really awesome, high value box for me too. Ditto for the MSA quarterly box.

I wanted to love petit Vour but the samples were consistently tiny.

Adding to the vote for Birchbox, since their point system is so good.

Also recommending Boxycharm, since they send out mostly full sized make up items, and a lot of it is from good brands (although this will be my first month and I'm not so excited by this months box, the ones in the past have been good).

Blush Mystery Beauty box seems to be a really good value (although I haven't gotten it), looks like they mostly send hair and skin products though, not very much makeup (although they send high quality stuff).

And I think Walmarts quarterly beauty box is worth signing up for if you don't mind drugstore products (only $5 a box) https://beautybox.walmart.com/

I got ipsy for a few months, but it wasn't really worth it to me, since many of the full size items didn't seem like good quality to me.

I agree with the recommendations for Birchbox (mainly because of low cost and point system) and Boxycharm (good brands and products). I had Ipsy 2 months, but then cancelled. I have a 6-month Glossybox sub, loved the first box I got from them, but the last few have only been ok, so I'll probably cancel once the sub is up. One month of Popsugar was enough for me!

I just cancelled sample society and I dropped ipsy a couple months ago. I want a makeup box, no skin care or hair care as I have favorites

Glossy Box and Sample Society have a better selection of high-end cosmetics (usually) than the rest, and I think I've tried them all.  The last two months, however, I've really enjoyed the French Box!

word of warning on Boxy Charm - their customer service is horrible with new subscribers.   read the boxy charm thread here and then decide.

First impressions are the most important.  Subs will make mistakes and mess up, but how they treat their customers and resolve the issues are important to me and really does make a difference if I want to stay with them - even if I love their products.
