They're closed for the holiday catchup season, but we might as well have a thread for them, too!  Susan posted in the FB group yesterday that she's thinking about a mythological creatures collection, and that would encompass all cultures and parts of the world, so we could get Chimera, Mogwai (Chris Columbus didn't make them up for the movie), Faun, Ouroboros, Selkie, and/or Sasquatch!  I *really* want Sasquatch.  I have not one but *four* Sasquatch-inspired perfume oils and two room fragrance sprays.

Uh.  Other than that, I don't have a whole lot of DG stuff.  I think all I have are a few Momentary Marvels, a couple of COTMs, and a couple of GWPs.  I had been planning on making this the year I started buying their stuff a collection at a time, but that didn't happen.  I'll have to work harder on this next year.

I would be alllll over the mythical creatures, I love shit like that (it's why I got into supernatural, actually). If she does that, there goes my money!

I haven't tried DG yet, but I ordered...something around black friday. Is it sad that I can't even remember what it is I ordered?? Clear sign that I did too much damned shopping that weekend.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, the two orders I've made have had such a long TAT that I forgot what I ordered, too, and they weren't big orders (I think I ordered a whopping *two* shadows each time) made at a time I was making a bunch of other orders.  I did receive my orders within TAT, though, unlike certain other companies *cough*VD*cough*.

Just wait until you see how they're packaged for shipping!  They really do feel like they're presents.

I have glitter glue and a few mini/GWP eyeshadows. I made a Black Friday order that probably won't come until next year, which includes superstar serum (I'm most excited for this), and a bunch of mini eyeshadows.

I'm ok with the long TAT, since she's very clear about it, so you know what you're getting into when you order.

Darling Girl has a birthday club.  If you join the Darling Girl Glitter Haven group on FB she has a doc where you input your birthday.  then when it is your month, message her and she will send you a code for a free full size shadow of your choice.

I like a lot of her products.  But I kind of forget what I have ordered by the time it arrives.  And indie colors are so often not what they appear in the jar, that I am afraid to use them without going back and looking at swatted.  Who has time for that?  So a lot of my DG items sit.  It has made me stop ordering from her for a bit.  Which is a shame because she does have some really unique product offerings.

One of the only reasons I sometimes use other shadows instead of my indies is because of the looking so different in the jar issue...if I'm in a hurry, I don't have time to pick out the colors the way I want to.

Setting them out the night before does help, though, then I can swatch/figure out what I really want!

If I was really ambitious, I'd come up with some sort of system where I printed a swatch and taped it to the outside of each jar or something, but...who are we kidding?

These are very sheen-y, not glittery, for those who might be wondering.

(ETA:  I confess I'm saving One-Hit Wonders for January, so those swatches are about a week and a half away because I don't want to know what they look like now and be tempted to use them before Birthday Month!)

AHHH those are so pretty, I want them!

(You don't know how hard it was for me to get the One-Hit Wonders for you and not one for myself, too, hahaha. When the holidays are over and I have a little more expendable income, I am going to cave and buy them, I know it!)

HI! So I got my first (personal, non SS) order in from DG and these are so effing pretty I have to share swatches.

I got the Darling Grrl collection, which I couldn't say no to and is right up my alley (I USED TO LIVE IN A RECORD STORE FOR GOSH SAKES).

LOOK AT THESE. Swatches on bare skin with a finger.

in order:

Chemical Warfare

Black Hole Sun

Nothing Else Matters

Roots Radical

London Calling

Basket Case

Ruby Soho

Die Die My Darling

Kind of in love with how smooth and sparkly and pigmented these are <3

I am planning to order next month with the birthday code, but it's hard to decide what to get a full size of (I never buy full sizes, usually baggies and a couple petits). Do I get a full size of something I have a sample of and like or try something new? Oh the decisions!

Try something new! And then post swatches for me!

I'm already itching to get some more. The darling grrl! collection was so buttery and awesome, I want to see if the others are like that! I think I like the formula more than any of the others I've tried so far, honestly.

I have samples of quite a few of the Darling Grrl collection and I think they are a good representation of their shadows overall!  (I love Chemical Warfare, Roots Radical -my fave Rancid song<3- and Die Die My Darling!)

Maybe sometime  I can swatch some of my other colors :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

A few faves off the top of my head: Verdant Dream, Sushi Flower, On the Hunt and Grasshopper...I also like Leviathan, but mostly because, um hello, Supernatural...and I like using Empire of Dirt foiled (with DGC's SuperStar Serum) as liner.

It seems like DGC was so small when I first started ordering (the TAT was so much shorter) and it has really exploded!

I really want to try the Sweet Cheeks cream blushes!

The only DG full-sized items I have are LEs!  I'm all about the petits.  Can the birthday codes be used on COTMs?  Because that's where my vote (and, honestly, my plan, since I'm a January baby, too, so I have a birthday order to make as well!) would go since you *can't* get them in petits.  I just hope there's a new COTM for January.

That's a good idea Meagan! If there is a CotM I may have to do that, too. I believe as long as the CotM are the same price as any other, that would be fine (I think the codes are created for the price of a full size container, so they should be able to be used for whatever).

Since this thread made me realize, that most of my fave DGC shades are green, I think I should use those for my Christmas party tonight! And maybe I'll go crazy Christmas and use Ruby Soho for my liner lol

Oh, how I wish I could do close up eye pics the way everyone else does and have them look amazing LOL Here is a quick low quality, bad lighting pic of my DG look today. I feel like an elf :p

I used Grasshopper on the inner half of the lid and On The Hunt for the outer half of lid and up into the crease and used Ruby SoHo foiled for liner (please don't hold my horrible application technique distract from the awesomeness of the shadows themselves!)

*Seeing the pic on here, there doesn't look to be much difference in color, but On The Hunt is a bit deeper version of Grasshopper and the massive amount of sparkle also isn't being properly captured! They really are two of my fave DG shadows and must-haves if you love green sparkletastic shadow!

Whoo!  Thanks to @@yousoldtheworld, 2015 = BREAK OUT THE DARLING GIRL ONE-HIT WONDERS COLLECTION!  Top to bottom, left to right, over theBalm Put a Lid on It (but use glitter glue with these!  These are *loaded* with glitter, although it doesn't really show up in photos.  And the colors are much more washed-out here, so, yes, this means SCREAMING NEON ORANGE!  I don't know why I am pretty much in love with orange eyeshadow when I normally *hate* orange in all other situations):

  • Turning Japanese, Come On Eileen, The Safety Dance
  • 99 Luftballoons, I Want Candy
  • Hey Mickey, Electric Avenue, I Melt with You
  • Mexican Radio, Video Killed the Radio Star

As a side note, Hey Mickey is very similar to GDE’s upcoming Rose City.  HM on the left, RC on the right:

HM is a little bit lighter with blue and silver.  RC is a smidge darker with green.

holy crap i need that mint green in my life
Yeah, everyone with brown eyes does.  It is *gorgeous* and absolutely *made* for us!

(Eyeshadow always makes me really glad I defied genetics logic and ended up with brown eyes.  Mom had green eyes, and Dad has hazel eyes that tend to go between blue and green but pretty much never brown.  My parentage was questioned many times by very rude strangers when I was a kidlet because of this.  But now I can -- and do -- wear pretty much any color I want!)
