hi all..i have always been applying liquid foundations but never i found any foundation that sets well into my skin..though i have tried MUFE,mac, estee lauder, bodyshop, revlon, maybelline, max factor and many more..yesterday i applied sephora mattifying foundation(pressed powder) and i found it amazing..i had such a natural look with that which i could never achieve before..i have few questions regarding pressed powders now:

1)how to make pressed powder last longer on skin?

2)brand names for best pressed powders?

3) can i apply pressed powder for formal looks also?or for achieving formal looks its must to apply liquid or cream foundations?

4)what should be pressed powder application routine?like what to apply first and second and so on...

i hope to get good answers from experienced people here..thanks alooot

I'll move this to the makeup section hopefully you'll get more responses there.

Here is my take on your questions. Hope others will chime in too!

I used to use compact foundations more than liquid but lately have been alternating wearing both or one or the other.

1. A primer can help extend the powder foundation wear but powder foundations don't typically last that long. You have to reapply a few times during the day. At least I've found this to be the case regardless of the powder foundation. (I've used everything from Chanel, Dior to MAC, Napoleon perdis etc). Too many to mention. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20">

2. My favorite powder foundations are Dior, Chanel, MAC, La Prairier, Lancome and Clinique

3. You can use powder foundation for formal looks as well. Wearing a liquid foundation under would extend the wear.

4. I usually apply a foundation primer on top the moisturizer and then apply the powder foundation with a sponge or a brush. I'll use a brush if I want more of natural look and the sponge if I want full coverage. Also I'll apply the powder over a liquid foundation with a brush if I need to set the liquid foundation.

Hope this helps. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20">

Pressed foundation has oils mixed with it so that they can press it in the container. So if your skin is even slightly oily, it's not going to last that long before sliding off, if you know what I mean.

The longest wearing powder foundation Ive ever used is the Valley Girl one from LA Minerals. It's sweat and water proof. I've swam in it and its still there (concealer too). Can't get it in Sephora or Ulta...but their in the US and shipping is cheap or free sometimes :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
