Hi,

I've sampled SO many primers and just can't find one that does what i need it to do. I have very uneven skin tone and texture, alot of scars, often get spots, dry skin around my nose but oily everywhere else but my biggest issue is that actual texture of my skin. I have fine lines, very visible open pores all over my face, and the skin under my eyes is very bumpy.

Every primer that i've used does a very nice job of making my skin smooth but it doesn't even out the texture whatsoever and my foundation therefore doesn't sit nicely on my face as you can just see my pores and lines. I'm at the end of my tether and just want that flawless look that so many people seem to achieve.

Can anyone recommend a nice thick primer that will actually set a smooth base from my makeup?

Thanks alot x

Our skin issues sound similiar. I have large pores and acne scars that are hard to cover up, some of my scars really can't be totally covered up. I've found that following a good skin care routine helps to shrink my pores. Having combination skin I didn't think moisturizing was all that important but for me it is key. Plus I use products containing Hyaluronic acid which plumps up my skin, helping to shrink my pores. But i still need help before applying makeup otherwise it will just sit in my pores.

There are two products I use that are not really primers, but together they really make a difference for me. The first is Garnier Skin Renew 5 Second Blur Instant Smoother which helps to smooth over some of my skin imperfections. For the largest pores and scars, I also use Nyx Pore Filler. I apply the Garnier first, wait a few minutes and then the Nyx, and then wait a few minutes before applying my makeup. Both are very inexpensive but for me have worked better than all the expensive primers I've tried so far.

Let me know what you find that works for you, good luck!

Have you tried Bellepierre's primer or even Loreal's infallible. I think silicone primers may help you as they kind of form a film over the skin and fill in pores and smooth out textured skin.

Hope this help:)

Sabz x

I really like Laura Mercier and Jouier primers for smoothing out the skin prior to applying tinted moisturizer or a foundation.

I received a sample of Benefit's porefessional primer and I went right out to buy the full size. I swear by it. It creates a smooth surface for foundation application and even hydrates dry spots.

Claire Marshall on youtube has a lot of those skin issues, maybe search for her flawless foundation routine?  You would need a more recent one because she used to never film herself without anything at all on her face.

This isnt an answer but a side note. Remember to keep in mind that a primer complimenting a foundation in terms of ingredients is desirable. For example, if your foundation is silicone based, get a silicone based primer. Sometimes if you get a primer that doesnt compliment your foundation, it can make your face seem cakey or may build up residue..
