I recently started shaving my underarms again and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. The shaves don't look clean, I see bits of little hairs left. My underarms are very dark and on top of that I get a lot of red bumps after. I read that it has to do with your blend but I'm not so sure on my part because my blade is a new one...

What am I doing wrong?

I normally apply a layer of shaving cream. Shave one direction. Apply again, shave another. I don't apply pressure and I try to shave as lightly as possible. I also shave AFTER my shower so that my "pores" are soft or so a couple websites told me too.

Should I try some of those home remedies of lighting the underarms? Because at my current point, I'm tempted to just spend a couple hours twizzing all the hair out once and for all and start doing that on a regular bases. O.O

I think you are doing it right. Maybe try a different razor? I noticed that if I just use a razor with the shaving cream I get irritation. After I started using the razors with the built in shaving cream, I didn't get the irritation anymore and I get a very close shave.

Hi.. Me also agree with you about  razor with the shaving cream.

And i have one natural home remedy. Potato is a great natural bleaching agent  it will not cause skin irritation.Just  apply the potato  juice to the affected area only  10 to 15 min ofter then wash it off with warm water.

Tyr this out!

Baking soda can be used to make an exfoliating scrub to get rid of dark underarms

Mix baking soda and water to make a thick paste

Use this paste to scrub your underarms.

Wash it off and pat dry the area thoroughly.

Repeat a few times a week.

Willn surely help you

I have this problem and it makes me really self conscious! I may sound really stupid, but how do I get the potato juice?

I have this issue too. It's not that I have little hairs left, it's just that you can see the hair under my skin. I have naturally pale skin and really dark hair. I've just been living with it.

This is usually from deodorant. When I stopped using regular deodorant and switched to natural it really helped.

Definitely exfoliate any dead skin away to start. Baking soda is good like the above post, but if you prefer something more aggressive you can mix sugar and olive oil or coconut oil.

Good luck!

Hi..

"Wash the outside of each potato with hot water, Use a sharp knife to cut out any bruised or green portions of the potatoes, Peel the potatoes and remove their eyes, After you've cut the potato into planks, through your juicer "

Okay, so I basically look like I have a 5:00 shadow within minutes of shaving because I have almost black hair and (no joke) 3 hairs come out of each...hair hole?  The only thing that works for me during bathing suit season is to wax them.  I do it myself before any big event and it's AMAZING - my underarms are so soft and smooth and it takes 3 weeks to grow back in.  I use the gigi hard wax kit off amazon; there are tons of videos on youtube of how to do it.  You do have to be REALLY careful to pull off the wax at the right time though, mistakes can be painful.  But if you practice it is totally worth it and way faster than individual tweezing.

OH and I almost forgot!  Dove has a new(ish) deodorant that is specifically meant to lighten underarms over time.  I got to test it out through allure beauty enthusiasts last year.  It's from the advanced care line.  My skin itself isn't really that dark (just the hairs are) so I don't know how well it works for skin lightening, but it is definitely a nourishing deodorant and will sooth razor burn.

It's pretty normal for your underarms to be darker than the rest of your skin. One of the many joyful side effects of having gone through puberty lol. Hair and pigment change. xD

Simply rub a thin cucumber slice on your underarms or grate a cucumber and apply the juice under your arms. Do this once or twice daily until you are satisfied with the results.

Another option is to extract the juice from a cucumber and mix it with a little turmeric powder and lemon juice. Apply this paste on the affected area. Leave it on for 30 minutes, and then wash it off with water. Repeat this home remedy once daily or every other day for best results.
