I alway have a problem matching my own foundation, but when it come to help other pick their foundation, I do just fine. For that reason, I always ask for help when selecting a foundation. Several years ago, I was match by a mac employee to be an NC25. When I went to a mac store recently with my sister to buy an new foundation. I wanted to get the mineralize moisture foundation. I know it not really for oily skin but my skin has been extremely dry of late. I was match by the employee to be an NC25 or NC30. She try on both and she (the employee) along with my sister both agree that the NC30 looks better on me. Here is my question. When I wear the foundation, I'm not too sure about the matching. When I look at it close up (mainly around my jawline and neck) I can see that they blend together very well, but when I look from afar, I can't help but notice that my face and neck/chest is a slight different color. I'm not sure if my sister and the employee got me the wrong shade or is the color different due to my face. My face tend to be lighter then my neck and chest and because I'm asian, I tend to have more yellow on my chest and neck compare to my face which has a slight pink undertone to it. I tend to get a lot of redness too since I started struggling with adult acne three year ago.

Many times the face is a different shade than the neck. I know mine is. Applying a foundation heavy handed may cause the face to look different from the rest. If you just apply the foundation and nothing else (no blush or bronzer) it's more noticeable because your face is then the color of the foundation and nothing else. The key to making your face look more natural is applying the foundation lightly and using a powder and blush/bronzer to blend it all in so that the difference in the face shade is not so noticeable. Hope this helps and hope others have suggestions for you too. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20">

@@ChloeT It could also be that the undertone is wrong, which can sometimes be a little more difficult to catch up close but pretty apparent from further away.
Please give me your suggestion. I often find my neck and chest to be more yellowish, (somewhat look like lime, I know that doesn't sound very good). When I wear that foundation, I find that it look a bit orange or somewhat dark. I just when online and had a chat with a mac artist via their website and they told me that is normal. I'm stil not convince since I notice alot of girl who wear foundation look uniform with their neck and chest. I don't understand since my neck and chest is the same shade.

I try to apply as little makeup as possible since I really love the natural look. I go extremely light handed on blush and when I'm not lazy, I go in with a bit of bronzer. but when I just have only blush on, I can still tell that there is a sligh different

Ok, I was just wondering because I've had this problem before. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20"> Sounds like the shade is still wrong. I was matched a shade before and I found it to be way too light in day light even though at the MAC store it looked like it was the right shade. It's so hard to get it right.

I just found this guide by an ex MAC makeup artist. Maybe this can help you find a better shade? http://sharonthemakeupartist.com/guide-mac-foundation-colours/

Thank you for your reply. I recently tested a couple more of foundation, and notice that every foundation make my face look orange or darker compare to my neck. So it might not be the foundation since I notice around the jawline and around the hairline, I don't get the orange or brownish tint. It mainly at the center at my face. At first, I though it might be due to redness so I use a green primer, that did reduce my redness a bit but I still get that tint to my face no matter what. Please help

hmm if the shade is only off in the middle of the face and no where else could you maybe use a powder to offset the shade? maybe like a brightening powder or a powder in a lighter shade.
