Hey guys,

Ever since high school, I've had pretty bad acne which messed up my skin a little. I'm 23 and my scars are slowly fading away, but they are still noticeable. I have some pits and dents in my skin and the "orange-peel skin" effect. Didn't even know there was a phrase coined for my type of skin texture!

Anywho, for the past few days I've been considering getting a TCA peel based on posts on acne.org and such. I was considering the 15% peel. However, I'm not 100% sure this is safe. I've seen many posts by doctors claiming that this isn't safe to do at home at all and many posts that say simply following the instructions should be fine.

A few concerns that I have right off the bat - I heard that chemical peels in general aren't great for medium to dark skin. I'm Indian and I have a pretty warm skin tone. Will that be a huge problem?

I just really, really want to get rid of these acne scars and pits once and for all. I just really want it to look as best as it possibly can!

So, should I attempt the peel or not? Any experience-based posts from people who have done the TCA peel in the past would be great or any tips on whether or not I should do it based on skin tone and any other factors I've mentioned would be fantastic!

Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions  :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

I wouldn't do an at home peel ever. See an esthetician or dermatologist, we are trained for a reason. Darker skin tones can't tolerate peels as well as lighter skin tones and can hyper/hypo pigment. Which can make more problems.

Plus, if you have deeper scars microderm with a professional peel or even micro needling may be a better option and give you a better result than just a peel alone.

Is sun active right now? because you have to protect your face if you start doing peeling (spf 50 the best).

I'm also having a problem if anyone can help. I have had 3 in office peels done and now years later I did a tca 10% on my own. The first was fine but didn't get the results I wanted. I've now done my second tca 10% on my own but areas on my cheeks looks like I have mascara rubbed over it or dirt on my face. This was visible immdiatley after stopping the peel. I am on the 2nd day and still no peeling but the dirt looking spots are still there? Will this go away? It doesn't look like anything I've seen in pictures. It doesn't hurt or anything just looks like I need to wash my face.
