Hello everyone

Just asking for some hints and tips on starting up my kit as a makeup artist.

A bit about myself I am a full time midwife but very excited about my second career path alongside midwifery.

I have been researching different makeup and also consider the ones which I know are good myself as I always work to perfection I will accept nothing less for my future clients.

Although I wish I had the funds to buy a full kit that consists of high end products as I am just starting out I need to build myself up with lower priced yet High quality products. However in regards to the brushes I understand this is an area to go the extra mile for.

If anyone could give me any tips for building your kit from scratch and essentials that would be great .

Many thanks

Welcome to MUT! Congrats on pursuing your second career path! I don't have much recommendations for an artistry kit but hope others can help you. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20">

Hi there! Congrats on the 2nd career! Youtube has been a great tool for me when Ive wanted to get opinions on different cosmetics.

When I started out filling up my kit I had a checklist for all my products. Skincare, Face, Eyes and Lips. When picking a skin care, I didn't want top of the line because I figured this is a one time application and hopefully my client has been taking care of their skin. I chose Mario Badescu from Ulta for a mid-grade skin care line to use on clients. I always keep makeup wipes and sanitary applicators like mascara wands, sponges and q-tips handy. My favorite face wipes for now are the Simple ones you get from Ulta.

As far as foundation goes, I've been using the Makeup Forever HD foundation (which isn't cheap), but I only buy them one at a time. Luckily they do not have SPF so they don't expire quickly. I also keep a MUFE cream foundation palette with me incase I need to mix colors.

Your best bet for products and more knowledge would be to attend a trade show like (The Makeup Show). They have them in quite a few places now! I went to the one in Dallas last year for my first time and racked up on products. I'm still quite new to the venturing out on my own as a makeup artist, because I've always been in cosmetics retail. If makeup is a passion for you, it shouldn't be a problem keeping this as a hobby!

Good luck! I'd be glad to help if I can!
