Hello! So my family is kind of poor, i've had to go without wearing make up for the entirety of school (Not that I really mind but it didn't make me very well liked ^^ ;) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />. I managed to figure out the concept of concealer and foundation which I use now and then when I'm lucky enough to buy some. I would like to wear a little bit of make up, getting a little fed up with all the people thinking I'm younger than I am. I would also like to feel more like myself and start enjoying being in my own skin. I don't want to end up wearing a lot, but maybe a little bit to make my face and skin look better. (I suffered from the dreaded acne when I was in school.)

So here's my absolute bare face..(I tied back my hair on purpose)

The only thing I had on at the time was some moisturiser.

I just would like to know what you think would be the best thing to do for my kind of eer...face? :'D

Christmas is coming and I'm currently looking for jobs so I'm hoping to start being able to buy some of my own things.

You can probably buy everything from E.L.F. It's a brand carried at Target and certain grocery stores. They sell brushes and every type of cosmetic item you could imagine. They also have their own website. If you sign up to be on their mailing list the website will send you codes for free shipping or bonus items. Last year I got a whole set of ELF brushes from Target for $10.  My absolute favorite is the eyebrow kit. It has a tiny angle brush, powder and wax. I use it to fill in gaps and outline the outside. I've tried tons of pricier powders and pencils, but their $3 kit blows them all away.

To look a bit older concentrate on doing your eye makeup. I've noticed that once I do my eyes, I look like an intimidating boss lady. If you don't want to bother with actual liner just take a small angle brush and some dark colored shadow like black or brown. You can line your eyes using the shadow. It's a lot easier to take off than liner and doesn't require a steady hand. I had to watch a lot of you tube videos to actually master the smokey eye and proper mascara application, but you don't need to buy the expensive products they use.

Rimmel is another good drugstore brand. You might also consider signing up for a subscription service like Ipsy. For $10 per month they send you a bag of samples. It's because of Ipsy that I actually started using blush.

Hi! Welcome to MUT! I echo everything @ said! Concentrating on your eye makeup will definitely change your look. I've always looked way younger for my age since my teens and it's been super annoying although I don't think I have the same problem anymore approaching 40. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20"> Eye makeup definitely always made me look older and I would say blush/bronzer too because it finishes your face and brings out your features. If you want to do your whole face, for basic every day makeup, you don't need much more than a concealer, a tinted moisturizer and/or foundation, mascara, and eye shadow(s) and a lipstick/gloss.  Elf cosmetics and NYX have great makeup at lower prices.

Hey I dont really know how old are you but you are looking super young.I dont wanna say any age.

Well,I think the makeup part is fun and nice and gets us feel so comfortable and nice, but the most important thing truly, are hair and clothing.Im saying that to myself also, because I really love makeup because its an art for me,but the rest of them are super important.Clothing&hair.

Second more important thing is skincare.Moisturising, peeling, masks etc.

The third less important is makeup. As for makeup, because you like something minimal,I would suggest to try to focus on the base.Base is so important.Nice moisturised, clean, flawless, glowy skin. You can acheive that by using a nice medium coverage foundation applied with a damp sponge,a light coverage under eye concealer,a light powder and a pink based blush (soft toned).

These are the most important steps.Dont apply heavy amount of makeup in any of these products.Lightweight is better that heavier.

Also a mascara and a lip balm or lipgloss.

That's it!!!

Good luck!

Thank you for the advice everyone! :>

@@noel S- That really is cheap! I'll need to check how much postage and packaging will be since I live in the UK. I have some eyeliner somewhere, I'll see if I can find it. I'll definently put that on my wishlist though. Thank you for the advice, it was very helpful!

@Reija- Thank you! Yeah, it is very annoying. I look like such an oddball amongst everyone else my age.

@makeupilove- Thank you for the advice! It is really helpful. I'll make sure to try these things out. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> I'm aware that clothes and hair are things I also need to change. I'm hoping to be able to wear my hair down after christmas depending on wether I get the products I need. You see I've got curly hair which even when I put leave in conditioner and curl enhancing products it seems to poof twice its size in less than an hour. I'm also planning on buying new clothes as soon as I get a job. Oh, and i'm eighteen and currently in college.

You're a lovely girl just as you are! For just starting with makeup, I would recommend investing in a bb cream, unless you're happy with the foundation/concealer you have! They do have great drugstore bb creams out there and I always felt that a good coverup is worth investing a little more money for, the rest is superfluous. There are some great drugstore mascaras (I actually always prefer cover girl lashblast to the higher end ones at Sephora), you look like you have great lashes anyway but you could always get a lash curler if you find your lashes grow straight, it doesn't matter if it's drugstore or not! Elf makes great brushes for eyeshadow, although using your fingers sometimes gives a great finish. Just for staples, I would recommend having a black eyeliner, a trio of nude/neutral shadows with a little shimmer (although you don't even need eyeshadow, or just dabbing a shimmery cream eyeshadow would be enough!), a cheekstain that can double as blush/lipstain, and a matte bronzer. Your brows look nice and full, but if you ever want them to stand out more, you can use a brow pencil/powder to fill in any sparse areas, but you can always use either clear mascara or Vaseline to hold them in place! When I was younger, I didn't have a lot of money and my mom didn't let me wear makeup so I gave my sister money to buy the bare minimum haha and I wish I told her to buy what I'm telling you (she definitely gypped me because she did not come back with $20 worth of makeup) lol. You will definitely acquire more fun exciting products over time and be able to experiment with more interesting looks, but my advice would be to do some research on some products before you buy them. When I was younger, I would also go to Sephora and have them color match me, take notes of the products they picked out for me then try to find cheaper dupes at the drugstore by reading reviews online haha. Good luck!

@hidingfrommondays- Thank you so much for the advice! I did used to have a BB cream but it went missing. I live in a large family  so I suspect one of my sisters took it! I appreciate your comment, I'll still have to go out looking like this until christmas so It's good to have a little reassurance! :>

I'll all this advice in mind when I've got the money I need.

Welcome Redulite! I don't know what products you can get in UK but if you can get Covergirl, their little cheekers blushes are really good and very cheap. I think I pay like $3.50. Blush will brighten up your face. I'm also a huge fan of Avon. I know that's available in the UK. It's good quality and they always have sales. I think some basics to start off with would be concealer, pressed powder, blush, mascara and something to add a little color to your lips.

I think you're a beautiful young woman. Someday you will be so happy to look younger than your age!

As far as the people that weren't nice to you because you didn't have money or wear makeup, you are so much better off without them. They aren't worth your time.
