hello i want to make a joker smile (scar) on my teen child age 13 using collodion. is there any danger of using this stuff on kids.

its a 3 days festival so this make up need to be for 3 days in a row. i will clean it of course every day.

if there any medical problems with this substance please advise.

No I would NOT use rigid collodion on kids faces, as it contains acetone and will  BURN kid's delicate thin skin. On older teens skins, collodion will irritate their skins and cause a rash. Even on adults, continued use will irritate their skin causing long term scarring. (Several actors on the 60's sitcom Hogans Hero's had long term scarring from rigid collodion years after the show ended). Also, after an hour or so, the collodion will begin to peel, so you would need to seal the collodion with a prosthetic adhesive.

Because of this, rigid collodion is being slowly phased out, at least in the TV / Film world, in favour of Pros-Aide transfers.

To answer your question, I would purchase ready made Joker smile prosthetic pieces on-line and simply glue them on with the required adhesive (which the sites will recommend to you). And the prosthetics will easily come off using a basic make-up remover. This would be your easiest and safest bet instead of risking injury to your or anyone else's child using collodion.

I know this is a bit late, but I hope this helps. Just out of curiosity, what did you end up using?
