Hi girls,

I am in desperate need of advice! My skin is driving me insane and I feel my make up collection has been a waste of money!

At the moment I have bobbi brown corrector, concealer, foundation and brightening finishing powder and bronzer. I use no7 exfoliator, face wash and day/night creams.

When I'm putting my make up on its all dry on my cheeks and forehead, but once applied my forehead becomes oily! I see redness as well and my pores are shocking! I also have the skin of a 12 year old girl going through puberty.

Hi! Welcome to MUT! Finding the right skin care/foundation combo is a never ending challenge for many. I've probably used 100s of different skin care and makeup products over the years and tried different skin care routines. What I found with my skin is that over washing was causing problems. I use Neutrogena makeup remover wipes at night time and apply skin care right over it or sometimes I use Korean 2-step cleansing method (an oily cleanser first, a regular face wash after). Not using water to cleanse at night time other than occasionally has made a difference in my skin. I do a whole skin care regimen in the morning by washing, toning, essence, serum, moisturizer. Sometimes I use a Korean bb cream as a primer and then apply my foundation. Also when I added Korean beauty products to my regimen my skin looked and felt way better. I highly recommend checking out Korean skin care products, especially their sheet masks. Just one sheet mask can make such a difference. If you are interested in learning more, we have a whole K-beauty section on MUT with discussions on K-beauty and different brands. Have you tried adding a drop of a skin care oil into your foundation? It can help your foundation to be more moisturizing and give you a dewy finish. It sounds like your skin might be over dry and adding the foundation just somehow dries it out further causing the oiliness later. Also your daytime moisturizer might not be moisturizing enough. I used to use combo skin care moisturizers since I have a combo skin but I found that they were too drying especially if used with foundations. I've switched to using heavier moisturizers during the day and it has made a difference with my skin of not being as oily or sensitive. It's worth trying different moisturizers. Maybe see if you can get some samples so you are not wasting money purchasing different moisturizers that might not work for you. Bobbi Brown is an excellent brand, it might be though that you need a different foundation from the line. Have you tried the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Rich base? It's a great product and really helps to prep the skin for a foundation. I've used it here and there and found that it really created a nice base and works great when used with Bobbi Brown products. Maybe see if you can get a sample of it to try it under your Bobbi Brown foundation to see if it makes a difference. Hope this helps and hope others have suggestions for you too. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20">

You might want to check out the Murad Pore Reform line. It's great for combination skin and really helps address some of the pore issues. A great skincare regimen will create a good canvas for your makeup!
