I went to the stylist the other day and asked for a shoulder length cut. Instead, she cut it to chin length...when I realized what was happening, it was too late.

I've always been able to get away without styling my hair too much. It was in a long bob before this, and I could either air-dry it and leave it curly, or straighten it pretty quickly.

Now, I have to either spend 30 minutes blow-drying and straightening:

(and even with that the ends were flipping up after about 4 hours.)

Or it turns into this...crazy in front and weird flat helmet in back

(sorry for the no makeup, etc.)

Ugh. I don't know much about styling hair, what can I do? Do I just have to do blow it out every day? Is there a magic product I can use? I'm so mad...at least my hair grows relatively quickly, but it will still take a few months just to get to the length I asked her for.

I've had my hair cut too short one too many times. Actually a few times it was my idea and I always regretted it after. There are products you can use in your hair for the days you don't blow dry it and it will help with styling the hair. Bumble and Bumble has Don't Blow it cream that you use on damp hair. IGK Rich Kid coconut oil gel is a similar no blow dry product. I use it and like it for days I don't want to blow dry my hair. Do you use volumizing mousse or spray in the roots? You can maybe get away with that and with a quick blow dry on the roots so it doesn't take so long to blow dry your whole hair. Do you use dry shampoos or texturizing sprays? They are good with getting lift in the roots without having to wash and dry your hair every day and for freshening up your hair as the day goes on.

Maybe try a beach wave spray to add some volume.

My hair is that length, and I have an inverted bob with layers in the back to add lift, but I have medium curly hair. Not sure how curly your hair is but, if you don't want to get it cut again, I would try a beach wave spray, a root lift spray and scrunch it with some gel to give you some lift.

Thanks. I do use a sea salt spray, so I'll look into a holding gel or mousse to help maintain the waves.
