Hi Everybody! Well i am a total and complete newb at make-up lol

even though i am 20 years old already, my mom doesn't have the

make-up knowledge to really show me and well i wan't to make my

self look better and not just the same old look every time, i am in

need of help for regular make up and make up for when i wear my

glasses (i know i am supposed to wear them always but i don't) lol

well i wanna know the fallowing things..

Is there any sort of ritual i should do before applying make-up?

(like washing my face applying moisturizer or something?)

Which brushes should i have as a must have and in general.

Which colors are do's and which are dont's for me.

What do i need to get started. Where should i start?

(i do speak of eye shadow and general make up)

I am all for trying new looks! - ^_^ /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />-

[Pardon the horrid look..lol]

P.S : I have all this and NO CLUE of what to do with it. lol

well, I try to answer the best I can:

my ritual is that I moisturize, apply face primer (I use Cover FX), then concealer (I use MAC studio sculpt) and finally foundation (I use MUFE HD). Skin care products are tough, what works for one person might not work for another. Make sure you always get sample of a product and try it before buying a full bottle.

The must have brushes for me are (all MAC):

239, 217, 224, 219 and 209 for my eyes

187, 168 and 165 for my face

I'm from the school of thinking that anyone can wear any colour they like at least when it comes to eyeshadows. For lipsticks and blushes, you might have to try a couple to see what might not work. I would say start with a nice peachy blush like MAC's Peaches and a nude lipstick like Blankety.

What is your makeup budget? I can give you recommendation but it depends on how much you want to spend. Most of my stuff is MAC and I would start by getting some good brushes (they make all the difference), the lipstick and blush recommended and some basic e/s colours like All That Glitters, Satin Taupe, Vanilla, Embark. Watch youtube tutorials to learn the basic....then you can just go ahead and have fun

wow, thank you very much that helps quite a bit

i am still a bit clueless about some things like face primers

not a clue what those are amd well while i don't really have

a budget i would say for now i wouldn't get anything too

expensive, since prices here where i live are on the roof lol

i don't have a nude lipstick, i don't think i have ever really

seen one for my self, i also have oily skin that's why i asked

about cleansing before using make-up and since i also have

eczema, sometimes my skin gets a bit flaky and make up just

makes it worse when it's in that particular state at least the

compact does, as for brushes i would have to get a dictionary

lol though i understand that if i where to buy the ones you have

i would just have to look for them by brand and brush # but yeah

i have a few brushes and i don't know if they are any good really

they either came with my make up or they where a gift or some.

YouTube! There is a wealth of information, and having someone demonstrate while explaining does wonders.

some foreign language i don't understand so i

wanted to get a base here before moving on to

make-up tutorials, i don't even know how to like

determine my eye shape, how do i do that really?

you can input"make up steps" in Google, and search the results,or read the steps on some fashion magazine, such as girl.

there is a girl magazine will teach how to make up and remove it.

I should have guessed

my old pally Google would have an answer!

(though the right wording is always key)

i didn't even think about searching that!

THANK YOU ♥

as for brushes to me you seem pretty sorted. you only need a big powder brush for blusher and powder, a foundation brush (or use your fingers), an eyeshadow brush and if you want, a lip brush.

before i start i wash my face and then moisturise. primer isn't essential, it just evens out your skin to give a smooth surface for your foundation. but from your reply above it sounds like you're having trouble with your skin so maybe a primer will help. anti-chafing gels (monistat, lanacane) contain the same ingredients as makeup primers and make a great cheap alternative.

in terms of colour i agree you can use anything. but as you're so new to makeup i'd suggest using some more neutral shades first just so you get the hang of things like blending and then move onto brighter looks. there looks to be some nice browns and taupes in that last picture of that e/s palette which would suit any complexion.

to make your own nude lipgloss you can simply pat some of your foundation or concealer onto your lips (not too much though, you only need a tiny bit) and then slick over some clear gloss or vaseline or lipbalm to give it a shine.

wow, thanks

i used to have a set a of brushes

but i think i gave it away to one of my friends since

i didn't use it because i had no clue what to do with

it lol, but i might just get a new one soon enough

also, i was wondering how do i determine the shape

of my eyes..because i have no idea what their shape is

which palette? lol i have so many colors though i have a

new palette i got a few days ago with some cute neutrals

and thanks for the great advice, do i use foundation first

and then use compact powder? can foundation also be used

as a primer?

Well you took the pic of yrself off, so I can't remember exactly what your eyes look like, but I kinda remember them being almond, small but almond. So you could google "almond eyes" and a picture should pop up with instructions for proper color placement to start you off. After that you could start experimenting and changing it around (which is the fun part).

You mentioned wearing glasses. For me personally, what works best is to make sure your eyebrows are always sculpted, line your eyes especially the top waterline, mascara. If you're wearing eyeshadow, see what bringing the crease colour a little higher than ususal does for you.

To answer your questions, foundation is considered your "base makeup." Primers work to prep the skin by reducing pores, smoothing lines and indentations etc, create a barrier and help smooth application of the foundation. Some foundations do come with primers already in them. Lucy mentioned Monistat chafing relief GEL which has similar ingredients as the higher end primers. Rimmel makes a peach primer that I haven't had issue with as yet, as does Revlon. You set your foundation with a powder. This helps to keep it in place as foundations do move around since your body heats them up. It helps minimize shine or add a glow etc. Some foundations do come in a powder form.

As you get more into it, you'll find ALOT more information on products, what to do with them, and how to do it.

HTH.

A lot of great info, i just keep getting amused by it all

i put my pictures back up with and without the glasses

>_> i should take a nicer picture though lol i look horrid

in those, then again..who isn't after just waking-up? lol

well i read somewhere that almond shaped eyes have a

lot more options and if i do have almond shaped eyes that

just gets me even more excited
biggrin.gif
thank you for all the

valuable input you gave me, it helps ease my doubts quite

a lot and i will make sure to check out what lucy recommended

and the few things you mentioned for me too! <3

P.S. I just added a picture of my brushes

1st you need to look at this youtube channel and look at the videos' YouTube - panacea81's Channel also personally i would stay away from MAC brushes its the only product that they dont do well, i started out with paint brushes (specialist ones) now i use "Ruby and Millie" ones they are the best. when im doing my MU i 1st wash my face and pat it dry, then i put moisturizer on (not much) then concealer and foundation then sometimes bronzer, then my eyeshadow then liner then mascara, then last i do lips. also i dont know if it makes a difference but i always do my hair before i do my makeup. if i had to suggest colours for you i would say you would look kickin with a black Smokey eye (see temptilia.com) also i bet bronze browns would look lovely, im no way an expert at makeup thought i just speak from experience
smile.gif
you just have to try stuff out and play around and see what you like and what suits you hunny, good luck xx
