Okay, since I've been getting older, I'm starting to have alot of anxiety about wrinkles.....ALOT. So, I typically use some anti-aging nightcream, but I can't say other than the moisturizing components, that they are "helping" the wrinkles any at all

Has anyone had any luck or HG for anti-aging products? My other issue is that I'm still prone to break-outs (use ProActiv everyday), so I can't use the creams that are oil based AT ALL without serious repercutions lol....Could Botox be my only hope? Or must I pay a zillion dollars for an expensive anti-aging cream that isn't effective?

If you look at the ingredients of your moisturizers, you will see that there will be oils in your cream. Creams and lotions are an emulsion of both water and oil. You can't have any kind of moisturizing properties without oils. I have recently been trying to make my own HG cream but its still in the 'experimental' phase

Everyone's skin is different so what may work for someone, may not work for you. I do believe in prevention over correction. Stay out of the sun as much as possible and elements like wind will also age you fast. Gently cleanse your skin and apply moisturizers after every wash and under makeup. Genetics also play a large part of aging.

If you are looking for some treatments, I've heard and read positive things about vitamin c creams and retin-a. Retin-a at night and vitamin c for day.

I don't know much about anti ageing, but my mum, both my sisters and a close family friend all bought products from a company called Arbonne (I think that's how it's spelt) and all of them rave about it. Both my mum and the friend purchased the age defying sets. The anti-ageing one contained your cleanser, toner, moisturiser, eye cream and some other little bits and pieces. My sisters bought the youth set which contains similar products, but for younger skin. My mum says she's had great success with it. She too was prone to breakouts still, as well as having dry skin, and she said its done nothing but clear up since she started using it. It didn't even get worse before it got better. My sister is very acne prone. She tried everything, including pro-active and medications and since using the Arbonne products her skin is noticably different. Everytime I see my mum or my sister I'm surprised at how clear there skin is, and it gives it a beautiful healthy glow. The packs are a bit pricey (about $600AU) but the supply you get in that pack is meant to last you 8-12 months, and it squeezes out of the bottles in the exact portion size you need. I can't afford it, so i don't know how it works personally, but I've seen fantastic results on other people and heard that it's well worth the money.

Sorry for ranting on!! Hope this helps!! :]

If you're having such problems with your skin, I'd really recommend going to a dermatologist.

If you want an anti aging product that will also help acne prone skin - then you need to consider Retina A or Tazorac, either cream or gel.

Both need a prescription from a doctor - a family doctor should be sufficient.

Any over the counter product must have some Tretinoin - which is the active ingredient of Retin A.

My understanding is that the over the counter stuff can only contain .02% Tretinoin.

Where as, your doctor can prescribe up to 0.1%.

Of course, your doctor would start you at .01% or .02% and see how well you are tolerating the cream.

Just to let you know that over the counter creams tend to run less expensive then a prescription tube of Retin A or Tazorac.

Stop by a Pharmacy and compare costs - may be important to your budget.

Thank you all for the wonderful feedback! I can't tell you how much I learned just by your replies

I'm going to do some research and post some information as soon as I can.....maybe we can help others with the same issue I'm having as well

Again, thanks so much!

Hi I was also suffuring from this problem I was also become hopeless like you but at last I found Nexifirm and it helps me a lot .

I have some of the exact issues you are describing.  I have started to see wrinkles and have breakouts. I see you use Proactive.  Those same dermatologists have created an Anti Aging line and Acne line, plus so much more.  I have used both - and I have seen a significant difference in my skin.  The doctors are Rodan + Fields.  Give it a try, I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

I'm 45 & breakout prone. I use salicylic acid, a retinol serum by Isomers, alpha hydroxy acid moisturizer & clay masks I mix up for myself with specific oils & finely ground oats. This keeps breakouts at bay for the most part & helps heal any hormonal ones that crop up on a monthly basis, as well as keeps my skin in pretty good condition overall. I started getting botox last year. My initial injections cost $350, and touchups every 2-3 months run around $50. But that's only if I keep up a regular schedule. If I wait too long, like 4-6 months, I have to start over from the beginning. Using both anti-aging regimens, acids/retinol/regular masking & botox, works great. I had considered hyaluronic acid fillers but my doctor recommended waiting at least a few more years. According to him, I don't really need fillers yet. But it's definitely something I'm going to do around the age of 47 or 48. I don't use anything prescribed by a dermatologist because I've found from past experience that they really aren't that good at what they do.

To take good care of your skin, here are a few really sound tips:

- do not sunbathe! Any tan is considered sun damage.

- avoid being outside during peak sun ray times which is between 10am-4pm.

- apply sunscreen with at least SPF 15

- wear protective clothing, UV blocking sunglasses and cosmetics

Take Care

Excellent advice. The most important product you can use on a daily basis is sun screen!

You can also look into a Vitamin C serum that includes Ferulic Acid, which is known to increase protection from UV-induced skin damage. The most affordable solution available online is the Hydra Select Vitamin C 17% Serum. Only $27 on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Rated-BEST-Vitamin-Serum-Face/dp/B00IPKIZRW

Good luck!

here is one product I am experienced with, it is Jarvis Cream & Serum; completely neutral herbal product...

you can get it at Jarvis Cosmetics not at stores because it has not been launched yet. they are just providing clinical trial....
