I also find that round toe heels can be more comfortable too with a slightly thicker heel. It doesn't have to be chunky but as long as it's not a really narrow stiletto to start off with. What I've found in the past is best for comfort is to invest in some really good shoes. Kind of hurts the wallet at first but my more expensive pairs are often my more comfortable ones. If you get some classic black leather pumps, it's okay to spend more because you can wear them more often. I also really agree about getting some foot petals or something similar.
