Well, the pen just distributes a little drop of green-colored cream, and you dot it on red spots like you would use a highlighter. I like mine the best (after trying different ways) when I apply it after moisturizer and little bronzer. I dot it on the red spots, and then apply a tinted moisturizer or foundation over. I guess it would work different on every person though : )
