woohoO! I am an EXERCISER!

Posted 03-03-2008 at 01:36 AM by pinksugar
as of the last 3 weeks, I am an EXERCISER!

ok, maybe nothing crazy like a marathon, but I've been jogging. And, I love it. Even in the rain. I've never liked running before, but it makes me feel really free. It's like an escape.

I have started out pretty small, maybe 10-15 minutes, every sunday morning, but it's my intention to master this. I can do it. I can learn to jog for longer and harder.

When I did bootcamp, out of like, maybe 100 people, I came last when we had a race. I came behind the woman with back problems, behind the massively obese woman. I have really small lungs which makes it difficult to breathe, but I am determined not to let that stop me. I really want to learn how to do this!

I just had to share my excitement. I hope I can continue and get better. So far I feel like i'm getting a lot out of it.

That's so cool that you have such determination. I started out jogging/running the same way....15 minutes at a time, and now I can go 30 minutes. At first it feels like you cant breathe, but eventually it gets easier. I'm addicted to the endorphins Music helps too...

I used to be an avid walker until I decided to step it up and try jogging/running. Like you, I loved it. My best friend, who is a runner, suggested I try running a marathon so I can train towards a definitive goal. I gagged at her ludicrous suggestion. Me? Do a marathon? Impossible! At the time I was still finding it difficult to run 2 km straight, let alone 42 km!!!
Never the less, running a marathon was one of my "things to do in my lifetime" list so I signed up for the Canberra Marathon (by investing $90 dollar for sign up fee, I though this would help me stay on course), downloaded a beginner training course from the web (lots of good ones from coolrunning.com), and just kept jogging for the next 3 months. I'm happy to say despite my initial doubts/reservations/fears- I successfully completed my very 1st (and not last) marathon in 4 hours and 16 minutes!!
I highly recommend walking, jogging and running to everyone...and yes-even the seemingly impossible marathon.
