Newbie here. Hi everybody!

Hi Everybody, I just singed up here on Makeup Talk. Don't really know where to start, so thought I'd just go ahead and say hi and introduce myself. My name is Janet and I'm 28 years old. I decided to join makeup talk becuz I am cluelss about choosing the right hair products and makeup for myself. I always seem to choose the products that make my hair or skin problems worse so thought maybe I could get some help from you guys. My current probelm, (and yes I say current becuz, trust me I have had and will continue to have several) is that I can't do anything with my frizzy, tangly outta control hair!! My hair is naturally curly and gets really really poofy and frizzy in humid and cloudy weather. I've been wanting to straighten it at home and don't know what to try. I've already used straightening irons, and the one I bought does work on my hair, but it's such a hassle having to do it everyday and not to mention the damage it does to my hair. By the way, I use the Conair Satin Finish Ceramic Straightening Iron. So I guess my question is, what would be the best choice for long term straightening results that I could do myself at home? Have any of you tried Ogilvie Straightener? Does it work and do the results last? I tried Dark and Lovely relaxer in the past and it sort of worked for my hair, but the results didn't even last 1 month. Well I guess that's it. Sorry about the novel you guys, hope some of you are still awake after reading this. LOL C yall soon! Janet

Re: Newbie here. Hi everybody!

Hi again everybody. Mahogany (noheaeighty8) I love your hair!!! That is exactly the style that I want to get, straight and with highlights like yours except I want my hair to go past my shoulders cuz I don't think I look good w/ short hair, but it looks great on you. Anyway, did you get yours professionally done in a salon?? I tried Loreal Couleur Experte and hated my highlights. They turned out orange, they were supposed to be blonde!! I still have em in my hair too. Waiting 1 more month at least to recolor my hair to just one shade this time. Janet

Re: Newbie here. Hi everybody!

hi! welcome to the site

if you want straight hair, i believe japanese straightening is popular.

but i would just use a really good flat iron

NYAngel is MuT hair guru .. so she would know some great recommendations .. as for me ....

I've tried a lottt of drugstore straightening irons (Remington, Conair, Revlon) they've never realli worked so i bought a Chi off folica.com and omg ... it straightens my hair in minutes !!!

As fair as @ home straightening ...EasyStraight has some negative/positive reviews ....but i've never tried it ....
