Acne and scars - Help!!

I have oily skin and have spent tonnes of money on all sorts of facial cleansers, toners, and so on. Most recently I have tried Clinique which dried out my skin and currently I am trying Clarins which is very expensive.

It seems to me that I have a new pimple every couple days and it's very frustrating. Not to mention the scars that are left behind, I can't go a day without wearing foundation because my face is filled with acne and scars.

I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for my acne and scar problem.

Thanks,

Jen

Re: Acne and scars - Help!!

Going to a dermatologist would be the first thing I'd do... sometimes all those drugstore or brand products don't cut it and using a lot of it can irritate the skin, causing more acne.

Also... I'd try not to wear foundation too often, try switching to concealer or something that has some form of acne fighting solution. I know a few have some with salystic acid.

I really love Avon correct and fade peel pads, they smooth your skin and lighten those scars.

Re: Acne and scars - Help!!

it sounds hooky but i used proactiv and it got rid of all my scars and acne, but i didn't follow their instructions because it was too harsh i just winged it according to what my skin needed that day. nothing else has worked, but with that said i haven't been to the dermatologist yet so that probably would work much better. i have hyper pigmentation so no matter what i do i get a scar it sucks!!!

Re: Acne and scars - Help!!

A while ago I was having trouble with my skin, I started using Cetaphil cleanser, witch hazel as a toner, and Garnier nutrise day lotion with spf 15. I haven't broken out in quite a while. I am really happy with the witch hazel, it's completely turned my skin around.

Re: Acne and scars - Help!!

Retin-A is excellent for acne scars, but you have to see a dermatologist first. I would use concealer when appying makeup.

Re: Acne and scars - Help!!

I used to have a really bad acne problem (I mean cystic acne) and I tried EVERYTHING possible. Countless visits to the dermatologist; topical solutions, antibiotics, injections, Accutane, Proactiv (which did work but briefly) - you name it.

Anyway, through a very long and painfully process of elimination I was able to determine that I was having a reaction to fragrance and that I have overly-sensitive skin. I also had to realize that because of this, I can't use everything that people with normal skin use. I use Glytone gel cleanser and toner, I occasionally use witch hazel which I really like and I use a fragrance/oil free moisturizer. I can ONLY use mineral foundation/powder on my face. A lot of products will say non-comedogenic, fragrance free, etc... However that may not be the only thing you're reacting to, it may be talc, mica, bismuth oxychloride and a host of other things. Also, I went to the aesthetician for glycolic acid peels. They really helped get my face on the right track. They help with acne, scarring, uneven tone/texture, and various skin abnormalities. Good luck!
