Buying mu brushes at a craft store??

Have any of you done this?? I'm not sure if it would even be less expensive than getting them at MAC, but I want to plan a trip to the crafts store sometime soon.. What do you look for in a makeup brush besides its shape?? What materials are good?? How soft / firm should the MU brush be?? Anybody has experience with this?

Mhm. I bought mine $1.99 for one. And they had a 5 piece set for $3.99. I have 2 more I call them the "sophisticated one". They were $2.39 a piece and it is so nice. The angled brush gives very precise application.

Re: Buying mu brushes at a craft store??

I got a japanese fan brush from Michael's awhile back. I think it was like $4 or something like that. I basically just felt all the bristles of the different brands until I found one that I felt was soft enough for what I wanted. lol.

Re: Buying mu brushes at a craft store??

I was thinking about looking at a craft store too, as I just can't bring myself to spend that much money on a brush when I could be spending it on the makeup itself! Thanks for the pic emperical!

Re: Buying mu brushes at a craft store??

Well I got one brush. I use it for blending and I personally think it works better than my other ones. Plus, they are really cheap, mine was 1.50 at michaels. I heard on tv that really skilled makeup artists use paint brushes instead of makeup brushes, but im not so sure about that. But they are definitly worth giving a try.

I would say you go for it since it will be tons cheapers and you can get as much as you want.
