Calling all MAC experts!

I need your advice. I bought some MAC blot powder today and after searching around a bit, the sales girl brought out one for medium/dark skin. I have pretty fair skin, but she assured me that MAC blot powder has no pigment and that it wouldn't matter which color I used. She said that the different "colors" were just for consumer preference because women don't like to buy very light powders if their skin is dark. Was she just telling me this because she was out of the lighter shade or does it really not matter?

I have that one but I think it makes my skin look "dirty" because it's a little darker for me. I think the colors matters somehow.

Re: Calling all MAC experts!

I'm pretty light-skinned (C2/NC20), and I wear the Medium Dark Blot with no problems.

Re: Calling all MAC experts!

Hmm... I would think it WOULD matter seeing as how they have named the colors for a REASON.

Have you tried it on yet? What do you think? I would suppose it might work on some people, but if you are really pale I would think it would make your face "dirty" looking. That said, I am sure it is a really light formulation since it is only blot powder...it won't be super concentrated.

Re: Calling all MAC experts!

i tried out the nc25 pressed powder and the medium dark blot powder on her and both were fine.

try it out, you can always return/exchange it if you don't like it.

Re: Calling all MAC experts!

I use blot powder in dark in the summer when I have a tan, but since I'm normally fair skinned I find that it can come off as dirty...I think medium-dark works well...but you just need to try it out and see what works best on you...the good news is MAC has an excellent return policy

Re: Calling all MAC experts!

Y'all are joking right? Liz wasn't my MA (I'm sure MAC HO would NEVER do me wrong!) No, the sales person (not Liz) just dabbed a little med/dark on my hand, it looked okay and I was in a hurry, so I just went with it, but the more I thought about it, the more I started to doubt... I didn't know I could return it after using it, but now that I know that I'll give it a try. Thanks everyone.

Re: Calling all MAC experts!

I recall a Mac artist on another site saying the blot powder only has 2% pigmentation. Shouldn't add much colour to you then, if that is in fact true
