Hi all,

How do you choose the right shade for your skin tone when purchasing foundation at a drug store where they have no testers?

I'd like to try some out there, but am reluctant to buy any because I'm afraid I will be stuck w/the wrong product and not be able to return it?

Any pointers would be very much appreciated!

Most drug stores offer free returns on products you don't like or are the wrong color. I know for sure Walgreens and Rite Aid do. Normally there are mirrors I can use to hold the bottle up to my face, and I also compare to the other shades so that I can see the undertones better. I will take a foundation with strong yellow or pink undertones to help me figure out if they shade I am considering has the right one. Sometimes a shade might look faintly like it has yellow undertones, but put it up next to one with strong yellow undertones and you might see pink.

I do the same as internetchick.. I hold several bottles up to my jawline and see what looks like the best match.. just ask about their return policy before you buy. Most drug stores will allow you to return them.

My drugstores have testers, so i can just test in the store

I mainly compare the foundation shades the way Leticia mentioned but I always make sure what the return policy is. It also helps if you buy it bogo that way you can try two shades more. I always buy stuff to test at Rite Aid.

My drugstores have testers too, would be way too hard to choose the right foundation otherwise!

wow! why don't they have testers?? that's so weird! my advice would be to go to a shop that has testers!!!

lol I either take them to a near by mirror and match them to my face/jawline, orr I have to open the bottle to test. there's just no other way unless there are testers, but i doubt cvs or rite aid have those...where I live anyway.
