Ever regret wearing makeup?
Anyone regret ever starting to wear makeup in the first place? You know that time back when you were a teenager experimenting with different drugstore brands?
Thinking back, I kind of regret I started to wear makeup. I remember a couple of years ago when I didn't give a crap about my appearance. I was so carefree and I could go out anytime with confidence without having to spend hours in front of the mirror. But now that i'm more focused about my appearance, I swear I cannot even leave the house without makeup. And I can't go out for long walks anymore because I'm always thinking of my foundation sliding off or getting clogged pores or whatnot. And I spend hours on makeup forums and blogs, lol instead of focusing on more important things. Sigh, it's like an addiction...

Re: Ever regret wearing makeup?
I don't regret wearing makeup. Yes, when I was younger it took me a lot less time to get ready but I was also more insecure about the way I look. Now, I understand my skin better, have a much more effective skin care routine, and know how to play up the features that I like.
Like any addiction, I think it's all a matter of balance.

Re: Ever regret wearing makeup?
I don't regret wearing make up. My confidence level is pretty low to begin with, make up helps me to deal with that. I guess you could say I "hide" behind the mask, but I'm ok with that.
Plus, I enjoy the process. I'm always wowed by my before and after.

Re: Ever regret wearing makeup?
I can understand the insecurity without make-up thing, but honestly if people expect me to look perfect all the time, then thats their problem. I can work for as long as 14 hours straight and there is no way I can keep my make-up looking as good as when I first show up.
I do like to look at makeup forums a lot, but I also read the newspaper, shop for clothes, download music (legally) and all sorts of other things to balance it out

Re: Ever regret wearing makeup?
i think i understand what you are saying. i remember being a kid and running outside to play (i was a tomboy), and certainly stopping by the mirror wasnt something i worried about....i even remember wearing playclothes inside out because the tags bothered me, why would i give a crap, i was a kid!
then during teenage years and my early 20's i did worry about my skin and hair, and need to be made up before being 'seen'.
but hopefully i can offer you some comfort in that now that im 37 and with 2 teenagers and a full time job, makeup is a treat and not a necessity. i'd prefer to look my best at all times, but if there isnt time or motivation for getting it all together, i really couldnt give a crap what someone thinks when they see me barefaced and ponytailed

Re: Ever regret wearing makeup?
No I do not regret wearing makeup. I have gone out without wearing makeup and do it going to work also. Sometimes I just put on powder and mascara on and that is it.

Re: Ever regret wearing makeup?
i love makeup. the better i get at it the more i love it. no regrets.
you don't have to wear everything everyday. sometimes just a bit of stick foundation and lip gloss is the only thing i need.

Re: Ever regret wearing makeup?
i sometimes regret wearing makes up.
not in the past but in the present. My job requires me to wear a full face (i work at a salon/spa) and the time it takes me to put on make up is out of control plus i feel like my skin cant breath even with just a bit of tinted moisturizer that i dilute even more. basicly being forced to wear my make up has taken the fun out of it

Re: Ever regret wearing makeup?
Sometimes when I've put on makeup, I regret it, saying "man I wish I could take this stuff OFF right now!"
But, I know that wasn't the question you were really asking
No, I don't ever regret having started wearing makeup. I can spend an extended time getting ready putting on a "full face" or I can be ready, including showering, ready to go out the door in about 20-25 minutes, sans makeup. Neither choice says anything about how much I care about my appearance. It's simply a choice I make on any given day, just like choosing what to eat-- there's no value attached to any of those things. It's simply a matter of preference.
While some are comfortable with a lot of makeup, others are just as comfortable with a little or even none. The important thing to remember, either way, is that makeup only magnifies the beauty that is, inherently, you.
And for someone to tell you"don't think about your foundation sliding off or your pores becoming clogged" it only makes you think about it that much more, right? But, if I may offer a word of caution to you, speaking as a gal who has had personal experience with with several addictions- from food, to alcohol to prescription medications-- don't allow yourself to become enslaved to your makeup. Because, just as sure as you do, your obsessions will become worse and directly affect your self-esteem which will only make your obsessions worse which will affect your self-esteem and make your obsessions worse and and and . . .
Please forgive me if my response was a lot heavier than you were expecting. I just became concerned when you wrote about how your thoughts regarding your makeup and what is happening to your skin prevent you from doing certain activities. That sounds like the beginning of a recipe for a *true* addiction.
Warmly,
Brandi

Re: Ever regret wearing makeup?
I don't regret wearing makeup but I do hate the fact that I HAVE TO wear it.

Sometimes - I do. When I wake up next morning and my skin looks awful, because I was wearing foundation and it was really hot the day before.
