Eyeliner
I have only worn eyeliner 2x in my life. I think whenever I use it I look too made up or it isn't an even line. Do you all have any tips? I was practicing a smokey eye look with Black Tied and patina on 1 eye, and on the other print and black tied. Not loving either one but I know that it looks undone without liner

Re: Eyeliner
When I use eyeliner on my top lid, I'll use a dark brown instead of black and I'll smudge it so it blends in more and doesn't look so harsh.

Sorry I can't help you out much there babydoll! I've always done a smokey eye w/ MK Onyx Duo & Storm along w/ the Charcoal eyeliner... I'm sure there's someone who can definitely help you more than I can there...

Re: Eyeliner
Cotton tips are your best friend when applying pencil eye liner in my opinion. I always use them to smudge my pencil eye liner.

ditto. I can never draw a thin straight line, so i just draw on a thick uneven line and dip a cotton swab in baby oil and erase the uneven parts of the eyeliner. This gives me a very thin line

Re: Eyeliner
try using an gled brush with a e/s as the liner. that way it's a softer line than a pencil or fluid liner but still lines and defines your eyes. and try doing only the outer half and see if you like that better

Re: Eyeliner
i think it's definitely hard for a lot of people to draw eyeliner in a perfect straight line...but it'll definitely help if you don't just draw one line straight across...do it in little stroked all the way through that way you have a better chance of getting it straighter...and smudging it helps make it look more natural and good for a smoky eye look!! I used to hate putting on eyeliner because it looked too made up and weird on me but now it's one thing that i can hardly go without if i put makeup on!!

I use the same technique, but instead of baby oil I use water.

Are you talking about top lid? Halfway? I don't even know where to start for bottom. Do you try to get as close to the lashline from underneath?

Re: Eyeliner
I think it really just takes practice( for me anyway). I use Revlon colorstay liquid liner to tightline my top lid. It just enhances my eyelashes I think--if that makes sense. Not too much--you cant even really tell I have it on. I use an NYC pencil liner in black very lightly on the bottom lid on 3/4 of the way--not all the way to my tear duct.

Re: Eyeliner
i love liquid liner and gel liners and feel like my makeup is incomplete without them. my suggestion - practice makes perfect, just keep trying until you feel comfortable. you might try using a color that's not so intense. for days when black, brown or navy is too much, i like almay liquid liners. they have a felt tip which makes for a somewhat thicker line, but the colors are soft so it still looks pretty. i never line my bottom lashes. if i do i look like i got punched in the eye by the end of the day.

Re: Eyeliner
I prefer lining with shadows. But, when I use e/l I make small strokes and then when the base line is in place, I go over with a more smooth motion to fill it in. When that's done, I blend and then go over with shadow (for the smokey look).

Re: Eyeliner
I like to use Victoria's secret gel liner in jet black. IMO it doesn't give a really harsh line above my eye. To try to get a straighter line you might want to stretch your eye lid and stick as close to the lash as you can. But like everyone said it does take practice.

Re: Eyeliner
for me (blonde fair and conservative), smokey eyes always feel like crack whore eyes i cant figure out how to make them work and not feel like a tramp! i only started wearing eyeliner like two months ago, i always thought it looked too crazy and obvious, so i started out small, with muted browns (i should mention that i use eyeshadow as a liner never a pencil liner) like mac mulch, and then finally worked up the courage to buy mac black tied, and now when i DONT wear eyeliner i feel naked. i also love to play with like, boring brown shadows and then a fun blue or teal liner.
(erika i think i have been looking for you? (hehehe creepy eh?!?) if you're the one i just swapped with check your email and i'll leave you feedback k?! if not sorry just ignore me!)

Great tips! I love e/l, I use it almost everyday. It took me a little while to be comfortable applying e/l but you can start with these great tips. Let us know if it works for you.

I do this also! Imo it gives the whole eye a softer, less strategic, harsh "done"look--everything blends more gently, gracefully together. Also,I never line the entire eye--just the outer two thirds of the | |
