Help! Get rid of my oil!
I need a recommendation for the best pressed/loose powder or powder foundation that anyone knows of for the oiliest skin in the world! I bought Clinique stay-matte powder (it's called something like that) a few weeks ago, but it doesn't work that well. I thought my super-expensive Dermalogica products were starting to work, but I guess they're not. My skin is super oily, blackheads EVERYWHERE (not just on my nose or chin - I mean all over my face), clogged pores, and these little bumps all over my forehead and along my jawline (does anyone know how to get rid of them?) My skin looks dull as anything (despite the constant shine, it manages to look dull and lifeless), it has a disgusting texture that makes it look all rough and gross. I've been to dermatologists - nothing prescription has ever worked. I don't really have acne - just lots of clogs and oil that practically seeps out of my face. So seriously - anything! Makeup, toner, moisturizer, cleanser, masques, scrubs, peels - anything that anyone can recommend I will try! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Re: Help! Get rid of my oil!
I absolutely LOVE Chanel Double Perfection Matte Compact Makeup! It's perfect for eliminating shine/oils! I apply it when I do my makeup, and at most 4-5 hours later is when I need to touch up, and I don't even re-apply the powder! I just run the brush back over my face, and voila! Good as matte
As for skin care, I use either MK Oil Control Lotion, Avon Naturals Tea Tree & Grapefruit Facial Cream, or MK Velocity. I tried the MAC Oil Control Lotion, and it worked awesome too!
I know before you said you lived in Albany, NY... Maybe we should get together sometime and visit the cosmetics counters

Re: Help! Get rid of my oil!
maybe you should think about changing your cleanser rather than your foundation! what's your skincare regime like?

Re: Help! Get rid of my oil!
In the morning I use Dermalogica Dermal Clay Cleanser. Sometimes I let it sit as a masque for a few minutes while I lotion the rest of my body. At night I use the Dermalogica anti-bac cleanser, followed by the daily microfoliant. A little bit of anti-wrinkle cream around the eyes, and that's it. I've only been using those products for a little over a week though - maybe 2. No matter what cleanser I use, nothing seems to help.

I also have extremely oily skin. Since I use mineral foundation (what isn't really long, about 1,5 weeks) it's soo much better. Perhaps you should give it a try, it's much cheaper than other foundations, but worth the money!

Re: Help! Get rid of my oil!
I tried using BE and it did nothing for me. I'm convinced I'm meant to suffer with this for the rest of my life. I'll be 25 in a little over a month - I'm too old to outgrow this obviously. It's so depressing. Nobody seems to understand what it's like. Some of my friends will complain how their skin is oily - but it's so nothing compared to mine.

Oily ladies read this
This is a copy/paste of what a woman posted on a board I was on. It might be helpful for some of you. I must say, I did not know such a thing was available until I read this post.
"it's called either r.a.lotion or resorcinal. I get it from my pharmacist, but it's not a rx. they can but rarely sell it on the shelf, cause they use it in compounding. it is a two-phase formula that you shake and mix up to use. looks like a chalky pink calamine lotion on the bottom with a water-ish look on top. you just shake and apply with a cotton ball. I have very very oily skin, and when I use this like I should I never need any mattifying products at all. plus I don't break out or shine during the day. it really works for me, I just don't know why I don't stick with it all the time when it works so well."

Re: Help! Get rid of my oil!
That sounds great - so what do I just ask the pharmacist for it or something? Is resorcinal the brand name? I don't want to sound strange going up to the pharmacist randomly and asking them this.

What I would do if I were you: I'd copy/paste that paragraph & print it out (if I could & had a printer do do that with), and/or I'd ask the pharmacist if he could mix me up a resorcinal compound. I do not interpret it as resorcinal being a brand, but more like it is an "ingredient" that is put into the mixture to help control oil.

dermalogica is an excellent skincare line so i think you may be right about your over active sebaceous glands. i was having a similar problem and found that cutting down on my use of moisturizer helped greatly. i tried to stop using moisturizer completely and my skin went crazy, so i wouldn't suggest doing that, just use maybe half of what you usually use. now i don't get nearly as oily during the day. there are a couple of pretty good oil control serums out there. i'm not sure if dermalogica makes one, but here are a couple of that may help.
i'm currently using the derma e one and i like it alot!

do you think using the dermal clay and the antibac may be drying you skin too much and causing your skin to over-produce oil? this has been known to happen. what moisturizer are you using now?
princess 6828, i just found this thread in the skincare forum. check it out!
Oily skinned gals, I found my HG moisturizer (with SPF) !!

Re: Help! Get rid of my oil!
Simple: Everyday minerals foundation in a matte finish! Followed by the finishing dust, that you can reapply throughout the day..

Re: Help! Get rid of my oil!
Might I also suggest Clinique's T-Zone cream (not sure of the exact name). It prevent that overly shiny face look that many get in the summer due to sweating.

Re: Help! Get rid of my oil!
I also have super-oily skin! I have tried tons of cleansers, gels, moisturizers, makeup (even mineral), products recommended by my dermatologist, and nothing has made a bit of difference! Thankfully I discovered the wonderful invention of blotting sheets -- at least that way I can control the oil even though I can't stop it! The one thing I've never gotten around to trying is clay masks, I've heard they can help...
However, just the other day I tried the first product that ever made a difference in my oil production, you can read about it in this thread!
Hope that helps!
