Help! My eyelids are red and puffy!
So, I finally caved and bought the Wet 'n Wild eyeshadow palette in Sand Castle because of the rave reviews I heard about it. I used it two days in a row, washing it off each night with my normal skin care routine (Mario Badescu products). The third day I woke up and my eyelids were red, puffy, itchy and dry! They've been like this for three days now. I haven't put on any eye makeup. I haven't changed my skin care routine or eaten anything new/out of the ordinary. Is the eyeshadow really to blame, and what can I do about it? I feel like Quasi Modo!

Oh dear. I think you should stop using the eyeshadow until it subsides. I'm not positive the eyeshadow is to blame, but have you ever had any other allergic reaction to anything else?

I had an allergic reaction to strawberries when I was 6. Other than that, I'm allergy-free. No sensitivies to plants, animals, or any other food.

Yeah, i think you should stop using it until it clears up.
Then all you can do is expierement. Like, apply it again, & see what happens.
but for now, put some nice chilled cu***ber slices on your eyes to de puff them.

I've had that happen before. Definitely sounds like allergies. Maybe try putting vaseline on your lids to help keep them moisturized.

Re: Help! My eyelids are red and puffy!
Its allergies. Dont wear makeup for a while. Im using eyeshadow for the first time in a year and i havent had any flare ups. Im being very cautious and taking all of my eye makeup off and cleaning my brushes regularly. Also if you get eye allergies you should change your pillopw case frequently.
Im also staying away from MAC eyeshadows. I have a feeling im allergic to it and ive read others are too. Im only using Stila right now.

I'm going to try that and the cu***bers. Or tea bags.. whichever I have in the kitchen.
How long did yours last? It's on it's third day now and while it's not any worse, it's certainly not any better. Do you think taking Benadryl would help?

Yeah, take some benadryl. I think it started to get better after a few days, but took up to a week to completely clear.

Benadryl will help you fall asleep it wont help it go away. If it does then you are lucky but it will keep coming back if you dont know the culprit. I had to go to the derm and get some medication because it was so bad. lol

The puffiness has gone down a little bit.. we'll see what it does tomorrow. If it's still bad, I'm definitely calling to make an appointment!

I have a question that no one else has asked. Do you wear contacts? If so, the answer may be that you need to change your contacts ASAP. (Been there.)

Re: Help! My eyelids are red and puffy!
Definitely allergies. I had this happen to me when I switched to a new acne cream. I was allergic to one of the ingredients, which I later found out wasn't uncommon. I took Benadryl--not prescription, but it does make you sleepy (so don't take it before work, driving, etc). I feel your pain, and I hope that helps. Oh yeah, sunglasses were my best friend until the red puffiness went down

For me it was not so much the puffiess but the redness. I really looked like i was getting abused. People always asked me if i was ok because my eyes were really red and always tearing. Just dont put any eyemake up on for a while.

I do wear contacts, but I've never had a problem with them. My actual eyes are fine -- it's just my eyelids that are acting weird. I did order new contacts so I can throw away the other ones. And I'm pitching all the makeup I used during those two days. I'd rather be safe than sorry. Plus, it was an excuse for DF to take me shopping for more makeup!
