Question Highlighter= too much?

Are there any looks that would be pushed over the edge by highlighter? (like I know too much blush can make you look garish, bold lip and eye together can compete for attention)

For instance, bold eyes, blush, highlights on inner eye/browbone/next to bridge of nose/t-zone
would a neutral lip simply balance this out or would the highlighter have to be very subtle/not there?

I love to pile on the highlighter lol. Just wondering if you think this is way too much for one look.

Re: Highlighter= too much?

I think when you do retro type looks you should leave the highlighter to the absolute bare minimum. This is because they look better matte. I love everything Burlesque and when I do certain looks it definately doesn't need highlighter. These tend to be matte skin with red lips and liquid liner type looks.

Just my two cents >_<

I use highlighter but i dont do eye makeup anyway so it wont look so unnatural. I really dont know im not not a mua but i personally wouldnt do all those things together unless i wore a really toned down eye mu.

Re: Highlighter= too much?

Wear what makes you feel good and dont worry so much whether its the "correct" thing to do or not...Thats what I do. I love dramatic looks even for daytime myself and im sure a few of the things I do would end up on mistakes women make but I could care less because I like it and thats all that matters to me.
So no, nothing is too much unless YOU feel its too much, I mean youre the one wearing it. IMHO.

Re: Highlighter= too much?

I use highlighters for every look I do. I don't think it's too much though and I use it under the brows, forehead, bridge of my nose, chin and cheeks.
