How do you get people to trust you with MU?

I don't do my makeup all out and colorful or anything (but I can)- unless it's a big event. Even then I go very subtle. In my opinion, it takes a lot of skill to make it look like you've got no makeup on!

I really want to give my friend a makeover but she's pretty intense about what her face looks like (funny, considering she doesn't wear anything but smudgy eyeliner)

Take yourselves to a department store and get one of their makeovers, and maybe she would be more willing to let you do a makeover on her.

I would tell her that her look is old and you would like to freshen her up a little bit. Smudgy eyeliner is gross! Just be honest with her.

Or you could double dare each other - do a little makeover application for each other, and then you MUST go shopping or something. Try on whatver clothes could go with your "new" face, take camera phone pics of the event. That could be fun.

Does she read fashion and beauty mags? Do you? Can you show her a photo of a look that you think would be terrific on her? She might feel more comfortable playing with change if she had a sense of what to expect from the process...
