do you wear lip liner? if so, do you apply it before or after your lip color? i've always applied it before lipstick/gloss, because that just makes more sense to me. but i know some mua's apply it after.
also, has anybody tried that infamous technique of lining outside your lips a bit to make them look fuller? i've tried this a few times, and it just looks like i missed my lip! ![]()

Re: Lip liner and lining outside your lips
I normally line my lips first, although on occasion, I'll line them afterwards. I generally only line after when I realize I DO want liner and I didn't apply it... Some lippies don't need it... I also make sure I blend it so as not to have a harsh line... Not to mention, I like how it can change the color of my lippie at times!
I know Susan Lucci has really thin lips, so they actually line outside of her natural lip line to make her lips look fuller. It's a practiced makeup method to my knowledge. I think it can be a bit tricky though in making it look like a natural lip line instead of a "fake" one... Have you tried lining right at the very brink of the lips as opposed to within the lips? I know since I have full lips, when I line under the lip line, it makes them seem smaller... Okay, did I even just make ANY sense there??? I hope so...

Re: Lip liner and lining outside your lips
I think that the best way of making lips fuller is wearing a really shiny lipgloss (see Catherine , from CSI - she has really thin lips, but with gloss it looks fuller). Lining outside has to be careful and not totally outside the lip, otherwise it'll look strange, kinda 80's thing.

Re: Lip liner and lining outside your lips
i really don't like using lipliner, but as far as I know you should put it all over your lips not just lining the lips. The lipliner will help your lipstick or lipgloss to last longer. If you will just put an outline make sure you smudge it so that it will not look weird on you.

Re: Lip liner and lining outside your lips
i recently just found the huge difference between using liner and not. i use mac's subculture and i LOVE it. i've had it forever, but never reached for it.
i do line both first and last. the first, i like to line lightly because liner keeps the lipgloss/stick on longer and defines, but then apply after defines even more. don't make it obvious, though. i don't have full lips, but with liner on after, although i don't go out the line (i do it RIGHT on the line), my lips look much fuller.

Re: Lip liner and lining outside your lips
I apply lip liner before applying lipstick. I makes the lipstick last longer.
However, sometimes if I want a strong lined effect, I will also line my lips after applying lipstick also. ![]()

Re: Lip liner and lining outside your lips
My natural lip color is the weirdest thing ever. I was born with a natural lipline. The outer portion of my lips look plum while the inner portion is a deep pink. The two colors blend together so that it doesn't look too abrupt... but its weird.
Because of that, I line my lips first with a nude lipliner so that the lipstick color will apply truer to its intended color. I only apply lipliner after lipstick if I'm trying to tweak the color |

Re: Lip liner and lining outside your lips
I always use a lipliner and I put it on first and then my l/s or l/g. I've tried doing it after the fact and it always looks weird to me.
I have full lips so maybe that's the problem.

Re: Lip liner and lining outside your lips
Hello all-
I usually don't use lip liner but when I do, I always put in on before lipstick...I also love Cargo reverse liner so I don't really get color but it lasts awhile...

Re: Lip liner and lining outside your lips
I usually apply lip liner before listpick, unless I'm adding it as an accent color to whatever I have on. Sometimes I go over my natural lip line, I have a small top lip so I may go over to make it even, but I'm always very careful so I don't look dumb <3

Re: Lip liner and lining outside your lips
I always line AFTER putting on my lipstick and gloss. I also try to line inside the lipline to make my lips appear smaller. I really notice the difference with/without lipliner. I can't go without, I just look funny :/

Re: Lip liner and lining outside your lips
Liner first for me too. I use Duwop Reverse Lipliner because it has no color, it just keeps your l/s and l/g from bleeding. I also like Guerlain Liplift too. You don't line your lips with it rather you put it on your lips and around your lips and it keeps your colorr or gloss on longer and keeps them from feathering too. Plus it has an SPF of 6 and it smells wonderful!
