Primer?

I feel like an idiot when I ask this.I have checked a bit online too and found out a bit about it.
It`s about primers.I know that there are eye primers and face primers, but I`m not quite sure why I apply this.Is it to even out the skin tone and make your foundation last all day?
And the eye primer, is that only for setting the eyeshaddow, or does it excist for filling in lines around the eye so the concealer won`t make the lines more showing?
Sorry that my explanation is so bad!
I have tried to figure this out on my own, but I am not quite sure if I have figured it out.
i would really like to have something so I can put concealer around my eyes without making my lines more showing!

Re: Primer?

I don't use a face primer but I love the UD eye primer. It really helps my e/s to stay on all day.

I"d look for a silicone based primer for this purpose - Prescriptives makes one, and I'm sure so many other companies do as well. The Silicones will help your concealer to glide over the little crinkles - in a sense, they sort of act as "spackle" to fill in the little creases. And they'll help keep your concealer looking fresh instead of dry and cakey.

Yes the silcione primer's are fantastic and Smashbox makes a great primer too called Photofinish. You can use the same primer all over the face rather than seperate primer's for eyes, lips and face.

Re: Primer?

YW Make sure you apply really small amount, wait a minute or so to dry a bit and I always put on some powder to dry it completely.

Re: Primer?

Other than Smashbox(I don't think I can find it here) is there any other brand of eye primer that can help disguise fine lines around the eye area? Also, can primers help to prevent compact powders from looking cackey or powdery on my face? I like the coverage that compact powders give but when I apply it with a sponge on my face, it looks BAD, cakey & powdery

Have you ever tried applying powder with a brush? I've never used sponges, but I have found that my powder looks best when applied with a natural hair brush, rather than a synthetic hair brush or the puff that comes with the powder. Of course I used loose powder, maybe pressed powder is different?

I use compact foundation/powder. I'm currently applying wif a brush & it looks ok but I want better coverage so I wanted to switch to a sponge but my application looks real terrible with sponge. In fact, it looks so bad that I actually look better without foundation! By thanx for ur suggestion anyway
