simple eyeshadow

Is there anyone here who doesn't like to wear too many shadows at once? I might wear Coppering or Shimmermoss tomorrow and sometimes I feel like wearing just 1 color on lid, or lid and crease color. Would that look too undone, or amateur (sp). I really am a simple makeup wearer. any tips/suggestions on how to break into bolder colors. Oh yeah whats a good brush for lustres just received swimming also.

Re: simple eyeshadow

I love to play with eyeshadow, but it's just not practical to wear the smokey look to the grocery store or to pick my son up at school, so I can relate. On days when I have more time, I might wear three sheer glimmery shadows. Right now, I'm a big fan of the Nars duos, because it takes all the guesswork out of eyeshadow application, but on nights out, it's fun to take my time and load on the dramatic colors.

Re: simple eyeshadow

I like wearing one color especially when I am in a hurry or going to church. Normally I apply a base concealer or primer then I use the 252 to apply one wash of color from the lashline to the crease and then take the 224 brush and slightly blend. Or I pack on the color with the 213 or 239 brush from the lashline to the crease. Put on some eyeliner and mascara and you're good to go! I don't think it's amateur at all. Sometimes simple is better and I have even seen makeup artist do this. It looks really good. Colors I use this way are mythology, gleam, amber lights, espresso. You can use a concealer that is one to two shades lighter than your skintone on your eye as base before you apply your shadow and that way you look like you have a highlighter on your brow bone. HTH!!

Oh Erica, you can wear whatever u want Seriously, it's just whatever ur comfortable with. I sometimes go out of the house with just gloss and foundation.
It's definitely ok to just wear one e/s. To make ur eyes pop out more, just curl ur lashes, put mascara on, and voila!!! For bolder colours, u can always experiment by using darker neutrals first.

I do this too. I use WnW All over Shimmer as a eyeshadow when I'm rushing, but I usually always do a bit of eyeliner on top and bottom, I think I look like a zombie without it! I agree with the rest of the girls, though, whatever you are comfortable with and like, go for it!

Re: simple eyeshadow

One of my favourite looks to do is just with one colour of shadow and a bit of black eyeliner. I wash the colour on from lash to brow with my TM #45 brush, then I pack the same shade on from lashes to crease with my MAC 239. Finish with a bit of eyeliner and it looks fab, like you've spent a lot more time doing it than you have.

Re: simple eyeshadow

I do this all the time, except I typically use lighter colors - I do the light shade on the lid, black liner, and mascara, and then I'm good to go!

Re: simple eyeshadow

Sometimes I like to wear just one color because I like how it looks. Clean and simple. Especially when I wear a bold lip. My faves to wear alone are MAC Vanilla and Gesso.

Re: simple eyeshadow

I'm pretty sure I wear Lancome's honeymoon eyeshadow everyday its just like a really light color thats kinda got gold in it... and I put that on and then some other eyeshadow over it or just in the crease.... I'm simple like that... but its easy and I love it.. I always wear eyeliner and mascara tho.. cuz otherwise i feel naked.. lol
