Smokey Eyes for Daytime?

Hey

Do any of you wear a smokey eye look during the day? Do you think it's too dramatic?

Just curious, because I've been thinking a maybe a toned-down smokey look could be appropriate for daytime. I just thought I'd throw this idea out there, beforehand - I don't want people to think I'm some sort of a street walker, lol.

Me too. I also tend to apply a softer gray for daytime to give my eyes a slightly mysterious look. I try not to go overboard.

hehe

Thanks! Yeah, I was thinking a smokey eye with a grayish-lavenderish colour instead of an intense black. I too work in a corporate setting and don't want to freak these people out, LOL...

Guess, I'll have to get my streetwalker groove on on my own time! LMAO!

Re: Smokey Eyes for Daytime?

of course you can ! usually i keep black for the nighttime look, so instead i use a dark purple or blue to tone it down a bit.

Re: Smokey Eyes for Daytime?

The new shadow liners from Smashbox are really great for a light daytime smokey eye.
You can find the Bronze color (Hollywood) on line at QVC. There is another color that was from a QVC kit a couple of months ago called Fan Club (an olivey color) that you can find on ebay.

I've seen some really great smokey eyes done with browns/taupes. I think that you could easily rock it out.

Re: Smokey Eyes for Daytime?

I never understood why people think smokey eyes should only be worn at night. If you're so worried about what other people are going to say, then don't wear it. Otherwise, go for it. I'm sure you'll look great with it on in the daytime or night.

Re: Smokey Eyes for Daytime?

Smokey eyes don't have to be overly dramatic IMO...like the others have said, it can be toned down for a daytime look. I love brown smokey or olive green smokey eyes for daytime...sometimes gray smokey eyes too. I use just a little bit of carbon in the corners to deepen the colors, but not all-black for daytime. Also, if I decide to do a smokey eye, I'll usually steer clear of anything too glittery or it'll look too much. And, as long as the lips are toned down with neutral colors, smokey eyes (any color) can be very wearable.

Everything you just said is exactly what happens to me. I wear it day and night and get people saying, "I love your eye makeup". Bravo to us AKA 'street walkers'...lol!
