Since a few people have asked me about it, I thought I would update. I do not like my UDPP. I have tried it many times, and it just doesn't work for me. I find it to be an OK product. It does give the color a bit more oomph, but not as much as my Second Base. It's harder than Second Base for me to get a thin, even coat over my lids. It creases on me by the end of the day, and Second Base doesn't. Second Base does have a bit of shimmer to it, so I am not sure how that would effect matte shadows since the shimmer is minimal. I have yet to try it with a matte look(I don't think I even have enough matte shadows to do a matte look lol). Both seem to keep shadows from fading.

Do you find your Second Base to be a little....chunky? I guess thats not the right word...sometimes it takes awhile for me to smooth it out.

How much UDPP are you using on each eye? Sounds like if it's creasing, you might be using too much.

Is the UDPP more expensive than the Too Faced Second Base?

I don't think so. UDPP is $15, and I think the shadow base is around $17. I bought mine at beautycrunch.com for around $7. I'm not sure if its still there, though

I use it very thin. It easily gets cakey on me, so I try and get it very thin.

tuna fish, I do kinda feel tiny chunks. I tend to rub my finger around in the pan until it feels smooth, then apply. It usually only takes 3 or 4 circles to do that.

magneticheart, UDPP is $16 and Second Base is anywhere from $13 to $15 online(though I got mine at TJ Maxx for $3.99 )

It's a shame UDPP doesn't work for you. Maybe like Shaundra said it's because you're using too much ?

I am totally loving second base WAAAY better than UPDD. I also scored mine for 3 bucks at a Marshall's over a year ago and I STILL have some. I am almost out, but I have enough for a couple of months. It IS shimmery, but I don't think the shimmer really translates to the shadow. I like how the Second Base is a little silkier than UDPP. I also find that Second Base gives me the ability to 'fix' mistakes in my eyeshadow with total ease. I just wipe it off and the mistake comes right off.

I don't like Second Base really at all. I use UDPP along with MAC's paints as an e/s base. Or sometimes just my MAC paint.. no UDPP.

I have REALLY oily skin and was looking into UDPP.. so should I try both UDPP and Second Base? My eye lids are ridiculous how oily they get haha. I'm glad you posted this, I will probably try Second Base first before UDPP.

I've never heard of that primer before.

I do get creasy with UDPP by a long day, like... long day. And sometimes it doesn't budge at all, even when I sleep in it.
To me - I just affiliate UDPP as a primer and not a base. Primers are used for the product to adhere. Base colors are to make products "pop" in colors. I'm not sure if those are the correct terms for them, but that's how I always thought of it... so I'm not surprised I see many people complain that UDPP doesn't make their shadow's "pop" in color. So if it's not doing it's join in eliminating creasing... it could be not enough product or too much of it.

I have used the Too Faced First Base...it has an irredecent shimmer to it and works pretty well. I haven't tried Second Base, which seems to be TFs matte version of the base.

I use both bases though UDPP is the first one I tend to go for. Have you tried the MAC paintpots? I love them also as a primer.

Thanks for the review! I have yet to try Too Faced second base but i might give it a go. so far udpp is working really well for me but i like an alternative.

I know what the OP is saying. I just tried Too Faced Shadow Insurance, 12 hours later no creasing. UDPP does not like me, it does some piling dried effect. Too Faced.

I like UDPP...my shadow won't budge even over 12 hours after applying, but I never noticed it enhancing the e/s colors or anything like that and I was sorta hoping it would. I've never tried the Too Faced primer, but I bought L'oreal De-crease last night and I'm looking forward to giving it a try .
