Walmart- Simply Basic Makeup Brushes- anyone bought these?

I was at Walmart the other day and noticed this brand of brushes in the cosmetic section, reasonable prices. Anyone tried these? Are the bristles soft or harsh? They sell the brushes individually and also travel size package with smaller brushes. Thanks!

I have that travel set and it is a great price, and the brushes are alright. I bought these brushes before I really knew makeup. I however am looking at getting better brushes now.

<raises hand> I bought one, an eyeshadow brush just to try it out, the bristles are soft, it works pretty good!! I wanted to try the rest, but they are always sold out

That sucks they are sold out. I hope when I go back they are not gone because there wasn't much stock left. Thanks April and Share.

You can condition them with hair conditioner and they will be very soft, however when it is, it does not pick up powder well. When it does pick up powder, it's when it's been used, oiled and dirtied up but by then it's really harsh and scratchy.

Re: Walmart- Simply Basic Makeup Brushes- anyone bought these?

I don't know whether it was this brand or not, but I got a brush for like 3 bucks at Pharma Plus.. The bristles were soft and everything, but it turned out that it wasn't dense enough, and that it was cut in such a way that I was never able to make the crease line go where I needed it to... Even for just blending, the bristles would go all over the place... Anyway this was my first and last cheap drugstore brush!

Ugh. Maybe I will pass on these. I have a few MAC brushes and some other higher end brushes I like, but thought I would try out some cheaper ones to save some money.

If you're looking for cheaper brushes, or just feel like shopping for brushes, go to a craft store.. Wallacks or Michael's.. I find their quality much much better than cheap drugstore brushes! It's really hard to find a good brush you could actually use for makeup, but it's always fun to shop there and see what you can get away with!

Call me a makeup snob, but I think it's best to use higher end brushes: they're softer, and they pick up more pigment.
They're also better suited for the different features of the face.

I haven't tried SB brushes, but I do use Quo Brushes from Shoppers. They aren't too expensive and I'm really happy with them
