Ok, so everyday I go to work and I put on my makeup. Lately I've been trying to be more daring, wear different colours, darker, etc., but then I take pictures and when compared to other ones I see posted on here, mine are just plain dull. I find it hard to believe that I can do a good job but I know I can, it's almost like I won't let myself.

So, tell me, help me be more daring!

First off, what may be daring to you may not be daring to me. It all comes down to what you are comfy with. To me, daring would be to go a day without my cat-eye black eyeliner on top! I do not feel like me without it! Don't worry about what others do! No one is suprised when I come to work with turquiose e/s b/c I wear wild colors everyday, but if you usually wear the same thing, doing even the smallest thing different will make an inpact. Start small and be confident! You can do it!

but if you really want to do something more adventorus but are nervous, i found the best way is to do something you would never ever do, and way out of your comfort zone but just wear it around the house kinda deal.

seeing your self through out the day with this more adventerous makeup should help you become more comfortable with it. and while i am not saying you will be going out in bright blue and orange eyeshadow it will help you feel more comfortable with doing something a little bit out of the ordinary.

if i were you, i wouldnt be comparing my work to other people. your work is unique. do what makes you comfortable & you feel suits you. some people prefer bright colors...that is them. i say, stand where you stand & dont worry about others. that is if you are comfortable with your makeup style.

okay so i used to have the same problem! my makeup never seemed very dramatic even when it was bright and bold. i found the solution when i purchased some quality synthetic lashes at MAC. for special occasions i highly recommend "lash 34" and for just everyday fun i recommend "lash 31". synthetic lashes are hard to get the hang of but if you go to your MAC store they're happy to give you a tutorial and lots of tips and tricks to make your life easier. i swear they help a ton in making your makeup look more dramatic! good luck!

I'm sort of in the same boat, but I've been going a little more outside my comfort zone in the past month or two. I started out by getting a bright pink lipstick (MAC Chatterbox) rather than the nude I had been wearing. Now I'm experimenting with eye shadow colors. I just bought my first MAC pigment in a fairly non-threatening color (Lovely Lily) and I like that I can make it as sheer or intense as I want. I think I've come a long way seeing as a year or so ago I hated wearing any makeup at all.

Bust out those bold colors girly... Try mixing it up. Wear eyeliner on the top and botton, wear eyeliner in a really thick line on your top lid only, do flicks with your eyeliner to get that cat eye appeal, tutorials.... Watch em watch em watch em... You can pick up alot of ideas from them and take some of what you see and then make it your own...

Don't worry about how daring your make-up is compared to other people's! I sometimes post FOTD's but the make-up I wear so isn't a representation of what I wear all the time and it's the same with people who do tutorials on here and places like youtube. I'm guessing they don't wear that make-up every day! You just need to find the right amount of daring for you. Instead of putting loads of make-up on just go with your regular amount and then spice it up with a brightly colored eye-liner or bright lip-stick. Just experiment around and you may actually find that bright make-up isn't for you. There are plenty of looks you can go for that look great with browns, creams and neautrals. I sometimes watch tutorials on youtube and think 'She looks amazing! I'm gunna try that out!' and when I do I just look like a clown! lol

Just go for it!! You might feel weird but trust me you'll forget about it real fast and forget what you're wearing later on.
