Arrow Banana Bread & Pumpkin Spice Muffins

Hey ladies! I know that US recipes are usually a little bit different from Australian recipes, so I was wondering if you might be able to help me out?

I have 2 questions, one about a Pumkin Spice Muffins Recipe, and the other about banana bread.

ok!

PUMPKIN SPICE MUFFINS -
here is the link to the recipe on recipezaar: Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins (Like Starbucks) Recipe | Recipezaar

It calls for 2 cups of pumpkin. In australia, the only way to buy pumpkin is in the vegetable/fruit section, or possibly canned, although I haven't bought it in a can, ever!

When they say 2 cups of pumpkin, do they basically want 2 cans (roughly 2 cups) of tinned pumpkin? The recipe doesn't say and I've never bought a can of pumkin before!

and question two!

BANANA BREAD
I'm looking for a recipe that has a piece of banana on the top that has been glazed with some kind of sweet syrup. When the bread is cooked the banana on the top gets all caramelized and delicious! I haven't seen a recipe with this bit in it. Do any of you fine MUT cooks have one lying around?

thanks in advance! I know I sound like a fool but I don't want to waste my time trying to cook something only to realise I've made it all wrong!

Re: Banana Bread & Pumpkin Spice Muffins

Rosie, I think when they are talking about 2 cups of pumkin, they mean chop up enough pumpkin that would fill a 2 cup container. If you have like a measuring cup, like a pyrex one with the measurements on the outside, fill it up to the 2 cup line. I spose you could used it canned, though fresh pumpkin would probably be nicer!

As far as the banana bread goes, what about getting a banana friand recipe? Friands always have those bits on the top of them. Just an idea?

B, I thought about fresh pumpkin first, but in the recipe, you just mix the ingredients together and then pour into muffin tins.

So you'd have to at least boil the fresh pumpkin first? I was so lost! they MUST mean tinned! even if it's plain tinned rather than pumpkin pie filling (which already has stuff added I think.)

I'd use the canned type instead Rosie, saves you tons of time
And here are two caramelized banana recipes that might help:

Caramelized Banana Tartes Tatin
Caramelized banana split from Gordon Ramsay
