Article: Zero Cost Romance for Valentines Day
Valentine's Day -- the one day of the year when every man is expected to be romantic, regardless of their financial cir***stances. On a low budget, Valentine's Day can be a struggle. The price of flowers goes up, none more so than red roses. Even restaurants normally deserted on a Thursday night run 'special price' (read more expensive) events. And, every shop has something 'romantic' to sell you. Trouble is, you do not have the cash.
Even if you are thinking that you just cannot afford to splash out of Valentine's this year, do not sweat it. You absolutely do not need money to buy romance. In fact, the best thing about romance is you cannot buy it. Romance is in the thought and the deed, not material things. If that sounds a bit idealistic then check out this romantic itinerary. It is the proof that you can do Valentine's for free. So here it is, our itinerary for a free romantic Valentine's Day for her: 1. Organize a day off for her. Contact her work prior to Valentine's Day. Imagine her delight when she discovers no work and all play today. Do not forget to book your's off too. 2. Make her card. You can download free card designs online and print on you home printer - just google "make Valentine's Day card". Otherwise, why not turn a favourite picture of the pair of you into a card? Alternatively, you could stretch your budget to a card, surely? 3. Get ready to serve. Sneak out of bed, get yourself washed and dressed (it's a good idea to stash some clothes downstairs the night before). Avoid arousing suspicion as far as possible. 4. Surprise with her tea, coffee or breakfast in bed and the news she does have work today. Breakfast in bed is easy. Rustle up something she would not normally have time for, like scrambled eggs. Lay the tray out properly with juice, napkins (kitchen towel?), etc, if you have them. Imagine what you would get in a good hotel and improvise. 5. Allow her a nice long lie in. If you can get hold of her favourite magazine or newspaper, do it. Be at her disposal during this period and tell her so. Aim to answer her every whim -- within reason. 6. While she is in the shower, spring into action. Make the bed (something you have probably not done in a while?!). Wash the dishes and tidy up the kitchen after your cooking exploits. She will be amazed (and thankful) when she emerges from the bathroom and everything is done. 7. Have something for the day planned. If it is a nice day, is there somewhere scenic you can walk? Can you get to a free attraction like a museum or art gallery? Check you local newspaper for free events -- anything that might interest her? Just make sure you pack the sandwiches! 8. Give her time to freshen up. And, spruce yourself up too. Give yourselves time to dress properly for dinner. You may not be going out, but you should still make the effort. Encourage her to as well. Remember to tell her she looks fabulous. 9. It is evening and guess what -- you are cooking! Make it special. Get some candles, set the table, sort the music and the mood. Remember, 80% of this one is ambiance, not what she eats or where she is. Watch those familiar walls fade into the shadows by candlelight. Do not get too drunk. 10. Massage. Get upstairs and prepare the bedroom first. Candlelight and music again. Remember this is a massage, not foreplay. If your massage technique is lousy, get a book from the library. If she wants to take it further (sexually), that is up to her. Do not spoil the mood by coming on strong. So, there are the basics, proving it is possible to have a virtually cost-free Valentine's Day and still be romantic. It is up to you to fill in the detail and add those special things you know your partner will appreciate. The most important thing is you start planning now. Otherwise you are going to end up having to spend your way out of the doghouse! By:Steve Sugden Found at ezinearticles ***What do yall think? Would you like this??

Re: Article: Zero Cost Romance for Valentines Day
I always joke with my bf that all I ever want is a card with some of his thoughts in it... I guess it's not a guy thing because I can't get him to do it.
I am lucky though... I get breakfast in bed a lot. Cool article, thanks! |

Re: Article: Zero Cost Romance for Valentines Day
Last Valentines day I made it very clear that I didn't want anything and if he presented me with roses I'd smack him over the head with a bouquet and chocolates are not allowed (I'm not the most romantic female). Naturally being the smart a** that he is.... he bought me a card with roses on it and wrote on the inside before his lil note "And Chocolates for Valentines day". Brat.

Re: Article: Zero Cost Romance for Valentines Day
I would love this. It would be sweet and thoughtful.
The only thing I do not like about this idea, is that he gets nothing for himself. Valentines day for me is BOTH of you lavishing love and affection on each other ![]()

just to add to this thread this is nice. a 3 x 5 card with a series of cuts along each edge to make a bunch of tabs. on each tab you put a bunch of favors : back rub, pedicure, manicure etc. Think up your own ideas. Available for immediate redemption. Low buck and always well received. it works both ways real well

I'd prefer this over flowers and whatever else any day.
