Teenage Acne Still Here?

My acne is pretty much as bad as it was when I was a teenager. Has anyone else found that it's lasted into their 20s too?

When I read an article it got me thinking about the product it mentions...(I haven't pasted it all in here)

" ... Acne is the most common skin problem to affect teenagers. Whether it’s a mild but persistent flare-up, or severe cystic acne, the fact remains that at some point almost all teenagers will have to endure an acne breakout....

...In fact, acne is actually primarily down to an overproduction of oil on the skin – the oil then blocks and infects hair follicles and pores, aiding a build up of grease and grime that lead to unsightly pimples, blackheads, whiteheads and acne cysts. Teenagers tend to suffer more because after puberty, oil production in the body tends to step up a gear. So the more oil produced, the greater chance there is of battling acne. Also, although acne can clear up later in life, the longer it is left untreated, the more chance there is that it will permanently scar...So the importance of a proper skincare routine and acne treatment is paramount if you want to make the most of your youthful skin.

Some harsh acne treatment products like benzoyl peroxide literally strip the skin of oil, leaving it dry and rough. However, the best products soothe already irritated skin, targeting the problem oil and debris and leaving the skin in tact. The SensiClear range is great for teenagers because it nurtures the skin. The SensiClear 3 Step Solution is one gentle but successful acne-fighting weapon that any teenager should include as part of their daily ablutions.

The range includes the SensiClear Purifying Cleanser, which penetrates deep into the pores, helping to flush out dirt and debris that lead to blackheads and acne lesions. The SensiClear Balancing Toner gently removes any oily residue, helping the skin to find a balance that’ll help leave it clear and supple. The final acne treatment step utilizes both the plant-based Salicylic Acid and SensiClear’s exclusive, patented ingredient called Retextra. The Blemish Free Acne Treatment Lotion formulation promotes the renewal of skin cells, restoring the youthful radiance of the skin. This mild treatment helps any teenager achieve their natural fresh-faced glow.

If, as a teenager or the parent of a suffering teenager, you want fast results SensiClear won’t let you down. The first three days of acne treatment are critical, and during this time SensiClear’s 3 Step Solution has been proven to be a staggering 100% more effective in treating blackheads than its nearest rival brand. Within 28 days SensiClear has topped any other acne treatment product, emerging as a clear winner in the acne treatment stakes."

My skin is dry, and it can get irritated really easily, I guess it's quite a lot like teenage skin. I don't think it's changed since then. I'm trying this range at the moment because I didn't want to try anything with benzoyl peroxide in it. I've read reviews about b.p. being really harsh and that's the last thing my skin needs! So far SensiClear is working well, has anyone else used it over a long time, and if so how has it worked out for you?

Re: Teenage Acne Still Here?

i use Benzaclin, a prescription cream that has b.p. in it, but since it's water-based instead of alcohol-based like Benzamycin, it's not harsh on my skin. benzaclin has been the only thing to clear up my acne, which isnt as bad it was in my early teens, but it's still very present.

Re: Teenage Acne Still Here?

Wait for it - lots of folks get acne well into their 50s.
It's not a matter of how clean one keeps their skin, it's to do with oil secretion and hormones - as per my derm.

Re: Teenage Acne Still Here?

I have not heard of Sensi Clear before. How about Proactive? Its also a 3 step skin solution for acne skin. I would advise seeing a derm though. I do not have acne but rather have small blemishy spots on my face, and before I saw a derm, I've been using much over the counter products but when I saw my derm, she told me some of the products I used were not suitable, contrary to what I initially believed, so maybe its better to see a derm if you have been using much over the counter products with little results in controlling blemished skin.
