I am 44 so acne is not an issue in my life - other than my breakouts. Socially, it doesn't effect me. But I know when I was much younger, acne had a very strong affect on my self esteem and my social life.

I am in my Mid 40s and Male, I used to have terrible Acne as a Teen and up into my late 20s and I still get them on my face now occasionally. I still get bad acne on my shoulders and my upper back. When wearing sleeveless tops I put makeup on my shoulders to hide it and the scaring. I am still very self conscious about it.

Grade I Acne but I never get blackheads. Just a small pimple rarely.

from my own experience, i have found many of the products targeted for teenagers are really harsh, and they used to make my acne worse. i wish someone would have told me to wear sunscreen during summer, so i could avoid the september face.

Not sure if this is considered helpful information, but from what I know, people who suffer from mild to moderate acne do not feel too conscious about their acne and are able to still get on their daily life confidently. However, those who suffer from more severe forms of ance tend to worry about it more.

i really believe that acne has a negative effect on people's self esteem. Although it is a myth, acne is associated with people that are either dirty or are too lazy to care for their skin. When i c someone i try not to judge them based on their acne, but i must admit, if its really bad, i would not want that person to be touching my face or anything like that. Sorry if i sound shallow, but i am more comfortable if a person's face is clear. However i have a few friends that suffer from acne, n they are some of the nicest people i know!
