Re: Bare mineral brushes are hard

Possible that you got a bad brush or two, it happens rarely. Is it possible that you got it wet or something, and the makeup dried on it?

Try cleaning them...search for brush cleaning tips - there are many floating around

If that just doesn't work, you may want to order another set...and let BM know that you had an issue.

I have those brushes too and they really are hard. Especially the flawless face one. Try out some conditioner on after you wash them. And if all else fails get some flat top or long handles kabuki brush from everyday minerals. They are $10 a piece and they feel like heaven against my skin.

Re: Bare mineral brushes are hard

I had BE brushes, and they always hurt my skin. But then I found Japonesque Brushes, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE them! Depending on where you get them, they are usually cheaper than most brushes (like MAC, BE, Bobbi Brown). The mineral makeup company I use just started carrying them, and for cheaper than most that Ive found online.
OH YAH! My best friend has had a Japonesque Kabuki for 5 years now, and its still in awsome condition (she uses brush cleaner too)!

Re: Bare mineral brushes are hard

it's okay to have soem hair falling. try to wash them, mine appear to become a bit softer. i can't use the concealer brush, it's too big for me, and i agree the flawless face is hard. the kabuki is the one i use most, and i try to buff gently.

Re: Bare mineral brushes are hard

some shedding is ok, but my old BE brushes were falling apart! I had hair all over my face after application! It was quite comedic!
Oh! When washing brushes, you have a few choices! Baby shampoo is a favorite of mine. I also use Japonesque Brush Cleaner. I have found the brush cleaner works better than the shampoo, I just have to make sure to fluff the brushes and let dry.

If your concealer brush is too big from BE, try Japonesque's Concealer Brush. Its smaller, and gets those hard to reach areas (like the crease of your nose and corners of eyes) without getting concealer everywhere else!

Re: Bare mineral brushes are hard

I used to have a few BE brushes, the ones that came with the starter kit too actually, and I could never get used to the scratchy feeling. I hated them.

If you google Parian Spirit, you'll find their brush cleaner for a whole lot less than buying Japonesque's. Same thing; Japonesque rebrands Parian Spirit to add their name on the label.

WOW! I totally didnt know that! My friend owns a makeup company and buys Japonesque Brush Cleaner. I'll have to pass that on to her! Thanks for the tip!

Oooh, I hated those BE brushes. Right now I use the Essence of Beauty brushes from CVS. They're great and inexpensive. Their foundation brush is my particular fave. I'm planning to get the EDM synthetic brushes, though.

Re: Bare mineral brushes are hard

Yea, I also hated BE's brushes. They're part of the reason I was breaking out, because I researched it and I found that stiff hard brushes (like BE's) can cause microtears in the skin, and then once minerals rested into those microtears it could cause breakouts (and in my case caused a minor breakout of cystic acne, something I never suffered from before). I'm using Smashbox, MAC, and Alison Raefale brushes right now which work wonderfully.

Re: Bare mineral brushes are hard

you should throw it out. i swear the first and the last BE brush i used almost cause my skin to bleed. you should definitely get the new premium flat top brush from Everyday Minerals, that brush feels like velvet on the skin.
