confusion about how to apply mmu foundation..
hi im just a little confused about how to apply mmu.. i mostly hear that you should "buff" it in your skin just a little at a time ? but they say this at barefacedbeauty.co.uk :
Foundation: Tap a small amount of foundation into the top of the jar and swirl your brush into it. Tap the excess back into the lid. Apply it in short, feathery, downward strokes. You want the fine hairs and pores of your skin to lay flat. Do not "buff" the minerals into your skin as it forces the minerals into your pores. is it possible to force the minerals into the pores? o.0... anyway.. if someone could set me straight here id appreciate it ^^ .. (what exactly does buffing mean ? ) |

Buffing, to me, is making circular motions with your kabuki.
I'm not sure what they mean with "forcing it into porces". The entire idea is to get it nicely on your skin. Anyway, my pores are just fine and I've been buffing it for half a year now. |

Lighter will give you lighter coverage. Buffing will give you more coverage. It's all about personal preference!

I believe that's what happens when you use Bare Minerals or any other foundation with bismuth. It's a heavier mineral. You need to buff to help get rid of the shine but also to "force" it into the pores to keep it on your face. I think there is a link somewhere explaining this in more detail.

Re: confusion about how to apply mmu foundation..
No need to buff with MMU that has no Bismuth, for example with Monave, all you have to do is sweep it on.

Monave is wonderful. I have tried several and have had a hard time buffing it in. I am not that good at it but I have Monave and like farris2 says, you just sweep it on with a brush just as you would regular powder you apply over liquid foundation.

Re: confusion about how to apply mmu foundation..
You can sweep it on with a flat top brush or apply with a lightly damp flocked sponge. Those are my favorite two methods.

Buffing gives the best coverage.

Re: confusion about how to apply mmu foundation..
Agree w/Thais...but I don't think you should buff too hard. Sometimes I'm not paying attention and realize that I'm buffing too hard, pushing the brush against my face with a little too much force...then I smarten up and go a little lighter. I'm not sure but it only seems like common sense to me that you wouldn't want to press too hard...
Also, from my experience, I prefer a kabuki or a good flat-top brush...I think the brushes that have soft densely packed hairs give better coverage and finish too. HTH!!![]()
