Question EDM intensive for oily skin...

Well I have oily skin but I love the coverage intensive gives me. Plus I have the perfect color match. I know matte would probably be better but I cant' bear to part with the coverage intensive gives me.

Problem is that on warm days (and I'm dreading humidity) my skin still gets really oily. I use a primer and a thin layer of finishing powder underneath and when i'm done but I still find myself having to blot several times throughout the day.

Any tips? I use an oil free moisturizer and I'm thinking i might need to switch to something that might help out better. Any ideas? I really need some tips...

Edit: I forgot to mention that my foundation does not slide off even after a heavy workout when im sweating like crazy. I'm just having probs with the oilies.

Re: EDM intensive for oily skin...

You might have to carry some finishing powder with you so you can touch up throughout the day. I know that some people on this forum have bought brushes where you can fill them up and then just touch up with them.

Re: EDM intensive for oily skin...

Use their Silk Dust first, then Intensive, and then Silk Dust.

Or...

Use their Matte formula (most oil absorbing of all formulas) and then put a layer of Intensive over the top.

Re: EDM intensive for oily skin...

I might have to use their matte formulas as a thin layer. I ordered two or three in samples sizes. i thought about bringing some finishing powder with me but i already have blotting sheets and they work miracles for me. unfornately with my oily skin, too much powder will cake up on me.

Thanks guys for the help!

Re: EDM intensive for oily skin...

I also have very oily skin and I use Pure Silk Dust - Golden Light Matte then Pure Silk Dust again, I have to blot many times and it doesn't last very long

does Finishing Dust control oil better than Silk Dust?

Finishing dust contains cornstarch and Silk Dust contains silk powder. Silk Dust does a better job of controlling oil. It is a stronger oil absorber.

Re: EDM intensive for oily skin...

Well, I'm planning on ordering Silk dust soon but I tried to put a very thin layer of the matte formula but it just didn't work!! It would allow my intensinve formula to sit and the whole day I got stuck looking slightly powder all day with minor streaking.

Re: EDM intensive for oily skin...

Cornstarch is my favorite summer skin rescue. It absorbs oil better than anything. Dip a soft fluffy loose powder brush in it, shake of the excess and brush over your face. I learned this backstage years ago at my fashion shows from a photographer. He said the cost of retouching was expensive, so he had models get the oilies out before he took pics, usually after a few hours of runway when everyone was starting to "glisten". LOL

Well my finishing powder does consist mainly of cornstarch so it works okay, but not on really hot days. I went ahead and tried another color in edm (medium beige neutral matte, i think thats it) and put in butternut intensive and olive golden medium too. I went 50:25:25 (beige being the 50) and it looked flawless yesterday. The only problem is it doesn't really seem to adhere to my nose that well. It does cover well but by the time I get to work, it rubs off too easily when I use my blotting sheets.

i think the idea about using the matte formula and then the intensive was a good idea. try that and see how it works.

I agree. The matte has the most oil absorbing power and the Intensive will give you the best coverage. Best of both worlds.

Re: EDM intensive for oily skin...

Nope, the matte formula left me real itchy and even mixed with the intensive, it didn't allow for it really blend onto my skin.

Re: EDM intensive for oily skin...

hi there... maybe you need to give up on moistuizer when you make up.. and use only in primer or the silk dust befor the foundation..

I did that for a day and it worked fine but I do have dry areas around my nose and mouth. Plus I really don't like the risk of no spf. I guess I need to find a better moisturizer as well.

Re: EDM intensive for oily skin...

I think you mentioned on another thread that you might try Alima MMU next..if you do, order the primer and use it under your makeup...i have an extremely oily nose and the primer really helps keep it shine free. Let us know how it works for you! Good luck!

Thanks!! I'll keep this in mind when deciding what to try out!
